Yesterday was the rain day for the month here. It should have been a perfect amount for a hero dirt refresher because things were starting to harden up. Unfortunately my back is jacked from a wreck on Thursday so I won't be taking advantage of it

More exploring yesterday, linked up stuff going out to Medfield and Sherborn. Much quieter than expected. Great wildlife viewing too, hawks, turkeys, deer and a coyote.

My ride yesterday was an eye opener. I rode, for the first time, right out of the garage of my new house here in NE Mass. Rode 30 miles of mostly dirt through 5 or 6 different towns. There is a surprising parallel universe of trails out here squeezed in among the suburban sprawl. No pics, unfortunately.
The other eye opener: My bike is in the shop (medium-long travel trail bike, 27.5), so I'm borrowing my dad's old, cheap, 29er hardtail. Airborne Seeker. It's a real dog. 30++ lbs, twitchy-as-hell 72* HTA, heavy ass wheels... And yet, I set a buttload of PRs on this ride (yes I use strava). Also - I had a blast. Now, how to convince my wife that I need to buy this thing?

For me this is the best part of the Boston area. There are seemingly an endless number of trails, easements, paths, dirt roads, and doubletracks spanning the region. It feels like being a kid again. It’s different than riding purpose built singletrack, but for me it’s no less fun.

Yeah. It's definitely pretty cool. Some of the scenery reminds me of Western MA, where I grew up - cow frams, rolling fields, etc. It's a different side to the Metro area that I rarely experience except on a bike.

Great riding these last few weeks! But now my bike is creaking like a motel bed...

Crazy dry, fast and dusty at Perry Hill yesterday. We need rain! Never thought I’d say that this time of year.

Dude that bike looks like big fun #hardtailsforever
Well, what was a pretty amazing start to the year is getting soaked down now. Today is the third morning in a row with dense fog, we've gotten a bit of rain every few days for a week now and are looking at two more wet days. The bugs are out in force! I know that the trail conditions will end up really good because with full leaf cover it will stay hero dirt for a long time but the fucking bugs...!
