I can still remember those hot smelly summer wind shifts into my open window, late at night...so late the traffic sounds had trailed off to near silence, with the train horns in the distance. Random dog woofs, random sirens.

Neighborhood girls wandering over from the party house 2 doors down.

That lake smell mixing with my house of hockey gear and fire gear smells, those sleepless city midnights, riding my motorcycle through the empty northwest industrial roads in that hot lake air at 4am...
dang, I wish I would have known how far I had to fall...I would have held onto that life so much harder. I’d have held on until my hands ripped off.

I like to say it like an angry German would. Sounds better.

Watching this and the NBA bubble convinces me that all this extended preseason, spring-training stuff is all just bullshit. This concentrated season is better.
