Snowflake alert

Literally.

Got another "snow squall" alert on my phone, third this season. God, it's loud and obnoxious, and it sure didn't help that we have a maniac in the WH droning generals and then missle payback. You never know. Anyway, this was just for a snow shower or something. Really? Why? If you're driving, what are you supposed to do? Just, stop? This is kind of absurd. What's next, thunderstorm alerts?

You can't turn off the notification?
I get notifications every time my phone goes into or out of a coverage area--which happens about 50 times a day skiing at Squaw. ATT tech support knows no way to turn off the notification, short of turning off the phone (which is a good excuse to be unreachable when I'm skiing).
I also subscribe to Nixle, which is supposed to warn me of emergencies--presumable wildfires in this neck of the woods. Trouble is the PD use it to send all kinds of non emergency messages.
As far as snow squall alert I think it means you're supposed to slow down before you drive into it. Like the dust storm warnings we used to get in AZ.

The same front passed through here this morning. On the car radio they said it wasn't so much a snow warning as a warning that the moron in front of you is going to slam his brakes when it starts. Seemed about right.

Yeah, but, I heard this obnoxious alarm go off with vibrate on the desk next to me. Don't you think it's really dangerous to actually make probably a million people driving cars to suddenly look at their phones, in unison, WHILE, OMG, A SNOW SQUALL IS COMING!

Fuck, after what happened last night, it could have been, find shelter, this is it, duck and cover.

@old goat - No we can't turn some of the alerts off. I have at&t and I get all sorts of them too. The Amber alerts are the worst because they go every minute or so for 30 seconds until you acknowledge them so when you're driving you have to deal with it.

Apparently the breathalyzer ignition systems people with DUI's have to install require people to randomly test while they're driving--so they don't just start drinking after they start their car. People are supposed to pull over when notified to test but of course they try and do it while driving and sometimes they crash, sober.
Of course that couldn't possible apply to anyone here.

Got one for the first time (near where you are) a couple weeks ago. Nothing today. Not sure what we’re supposed to do with the information but I wasn’t that annoyed by it- probably just my sunny disposition.
