been playing with a 7 wood for about 15 years...just like you said...nice high shots with soft landings...the one I have is very low profile and great through the rough from 200-220 for me typically into greens.

    Reed in top form today.

DeChambeaux’s long game working...for a day at least. Hope he can keep it going.

The two with the most unconventional swings in the final pair. Should be interesting.

My golfing buddy put $50 on both Wolff and Brutus. I laughed at him when he told me that on Tuesday. Now he might be one laughing after tomorrow.

Wolff could have easily shaved a few strokes off his round if some putts would have went his way. His iron play today was dialed.

Tomorrow is going to be fun to watch. I’m pulling for Xander. His game looks like it was built around winning on courses like this.

Just watched MW's highlights from today. He produces one of the "flushest" sounds with his irons.

It’s amazing that a world famous golf course is smack dab in the middle of Mamaronek, NY. 200 yards from the Merritt and you’d never know it.
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

honestly, i think he has a pretty swing. it's unconventional but oddly satisfying. that may be because he absolutely pures everything.

In a way you are correct. https://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/hu...arkway/history

Merritt Parkway runs from N.Y. / Conn. state line to the Sikorsky bridge where it becomes known as the Wilbur Cross.

    You should know this.

    Ahh. The Hutch. My bad.

The fact that NY Metro has world class golf isn’t odd. It’s that a Top 10 golf course is smack dab in the middle of 1/4 acre housing that makes it so singular.

I think the some of the older US courses end up with weird surrounds just from the hands of time. Augusta is smack dab in the middle of suburban strip mall hell and you would never know.

Bryson and Stenson seem to both smash the irons. definitely a different sound.

Just heard a local sports radio guy in town who golfs a lot use the term “bomb and gouge” today. Get as close to the hole as possible to get a wedge in your hands. 5” rough struggles to defeat that style if you are strong enough to punch out of the thick stuff.

A new wave coming? Maybe variable length rough based on distance off the tee (deeper the farther you go) to counteract this if it becomes a thing many try?

Hard to make existing courses much longer.

^He's going to bomb and gouge his way to plenty of victories and let the other dudes figure it out is how it looks. I wonder if Koepka is satisified with Bryson's pace of play.

Nah, the bomb-and-gouge era is nothing new and has been around for awhile, Bryson is not revolutionary. All the top players are bomb-and-gougers: DJ, Brooks, Bryson, Ram, Rory etc..

What people don't realize is that a course like Winged Foot with it's narrow fairways and long rough actually benefits the bomb-and-gouger's more.

If you really want to combat bomb-and-gouge, you just need to set up a course that actually punishes inaccuracies. It's why the US Ryder cup team hasn't won in Europe in like 30 years, even though the US team is always more stacked.
