Yep the instagramfags were thicker than the bunyon bugs this year. Broadcasting loud and proud to all the other instagramfags to come get some Bunyon bug action cuz the river can easily fit another 500 boats of instagramfags on it.
At least you picked the least crowded section to fish. I wish that drag to the river was always that long, it's kept most of the instafags away.

Holee Shit I went fishing for once. Doggos first boat ride, he only abandoned ship once after a duck. 4 seasons of weather in a day, stellar fishing. Solid day.

    Sweet camp teleee

June is killer here in Montana. Mtns are still snow capped, valleys are green, and no doubt some of the most fun dry fly fishing of the year.

Been posted up for the past few days at one of my favorite places in the world.

Base camp is pretty sweet (not my boat.)

Besides seeing one report indicating the action had started, we didn't have a lot of beta. However, right when we got to camp walked down to the river bank, saw a shuck, and then an adult. Heck yeah, we were in the game.

While there are some rivers in the state that attract the bros, this place seems to be a gentleman's affair. Lots of brimmed hats, elders who have been fishing this hatch since my parents were in school, and just a slower pace than many of the other rivers in the state. For me, this is the water that comes to mind when you think of fly fishing in SW Montana. I just love this place.

Probably my single favorite and most fun fly to fish.

When you spend a lot of time on the water, it is seldom that you have the day you'll be talking about for the rest of your life. One of those days was yesterday. Fishing was money. As far as numbers, it was probably my single best day of salmon fly fishing ever. The action was so consistent from start to finish. If you could make the cast good chance you were getting an eat. We put in early to get ahead of the riff raff, and within 10 minutes we had four fish in the net including this beautiful hen, our fish of the day.

As good as it has been up there, unfortunately the weather is turning to absolute shit and I decided to bail. It is howling outside right now

Bummer. But while I'll be chasing that day for a while, good news is we are just getting started.
