Good stuff y'all.
We had another solid day.
Started off exploring a tributary
Getting rigged.
The past few days we've been pitching big dries on 6 wts in heavy water. This game is completely different. Light tackle, a few blue wings and pmd's. and surprisingly picky fish. Still a ton of fun.
I missed a couple on the small dry. Then I got lucky with one on the wulff.
After futzing around we decided to head back to the river and throw some big dries.
Winner, winner. My best fish so far from the hatch.
Stoked.

This morning my buddy Jand I hit it early. We put on at day break.
They were there.
And the fish were on 'em.
This moose, however, must have forgotten his fly rod.
He wanted to get in the back of my boat. No way, Jose.
Interesting too that there was no one out there today. Matter of fact, we only saw five other boats total. But two were upside down.
This one was a couple hundred yds downstream from the put-in. Shitty way to start the day.
This good Samaritan tried to help but was unsuccessful as the boat was still pinned at the end of the day when we ran our shuttle.
Then there was this guy. Man, this salmon fly game is like a survival of the fittest
That is going to be such a bitch to get free.
But we made it out alive! Thank goodness!
We have some crazy weather about to move in for the next couple of days which is a bummer cause this game is so much fun. Not sure if I'll get back up here before hatch is over but man, what a great salmon fly season it has been. I'm sitting in my camper typing this up and getting a little sad. I'm also exhausted.
What a cool spot.

From my fishing forum, I got a little more info on the pinned drift boat in my last report.
"That guy trying to help out in the pic is my good buddy Shane. That's his wife and kids in the background. He said the boat was a rental. They guy that sank it told him he saw the rock but couldn't avoid it. He helped the guy and his mom to shore. A group of guys that helps recover boats came by later and supposedly got the boat out."

I was gonna comment on the pinned boats but then i remembered the time where I beached my old boat(one plug) and popped a plug. I was in middle of the Missouri before I realized it and had to row as fast as I could to make it to shore while my wife made sure the two dogs didnt move and sink the boat. It was fun emptying everything out the boat to flip it over.

Yo SFB,
can you post some photos of how your SUP is setup ? Particularly interested in how you carry your rod.
I am in Wisconsin right now and have access to an SUP. Will require about a 1 mile paddle to where the fish are. Trying to figure out where to put my rod.
Also: if I catch a 50 inch Musky, is my SUP going for a wild ride ?

step 1 involves sup safety
the stripping basket you should haz
i like a tackle bag or the yeti works anything as or taller than the striping basket in front of that
i balance the rod on the 2
fighting butt works better as itll sit in the basket instead of falling in
i like to strip out most of the line into the basket
as when, not if your whippy stick falls into the water you have all that line to help git er back
otherwise a bungee or those plastic coated bendable wire thingies are good for securing
the salt life pro bros seem to run their rods in holders off the seat
or east or busts or nice fishing sups have inserts for various rod holders
yes mr toads in for a wild ride supin landing fiddy in esox
id start with teener troot
work up to 30" poopers
then go hudge
with the quest for the fish of 10k casts in the make it extra specially supstacular way
id reccomend a guide support boat with a hot net chick
manged to run the sup little hole to lone tree
minus a bony 950k redcreek i needed to run the drifty through
im gonna need to ctr again
nice weekend up there wasnt as crowded as i thought it was gonna be
got the old man int a few fish
supermoon was super cool
