I’m not sure these are technically my best shots, but for one reason or another are my favorites.

I like this thread because I look back on the year. Do I choose something from our trip to New Orleans? My son's first backpacking trip? Skiing/Snowboarding? Kauai? Then, I have to be critical just like I force my students to be with their photography. And then I still screw it all up... The balance of subject, technical image-making, and special moments make it so difficult. Since this isn't my portfolio, I guess I can let some emotion sneak in.

I have the same one more poorly composed and with less vibrant colors. I really like the skintrack photo.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

The slowdown on the photo forum over the last couple of years has been a big bummer cause there are so many talented peeps on here. This thread confirms it on page one.

    My humble additions:

Thanks. That’s an HDR 3–row pano. Pre-visualizing these large format panos has improved all of my photography

I think it slowed down with the iphone popularity. It was hard to carry all of the SLR gear when my iphone took great photos. Now I got a mirrorless so I'm getting back into it.
