Day 2. Went into other side of the highway at the Pass. Another 20cms new. With wind loading it was variable low density 30 to 50cms running easily on buried surface hoar so stuck to benched terrain

More snow again and heard there were to be highway closures so used some RMR tix. Stuck inbounds. They had 20 the prev 12 hours then 13 new and highway issues kept the roads stuck with traffic and crowds low.

Can't you wait until after the weekend before posting this? I'm openly hoping the highways shut down and keep the holiday crowds out until at least Sunday.

Watching this storm a bit. Kid is there now, making the call tomorrow at noon as to whether they can get out or not. Certainly not worried about not getting out. A four person room at the Cube could be in the cards for tomorrow.

Thanks for the stoke; this is getting me fired up for an upcoming trip. How has this year been compared to average so far?

I’d say Revy is running above average now, it seems it has been in the storm tracks a lot more than further west or south. Banff areas also seem to be doing good for this early, Whistler, not so much.

Nice, thanks. Any funky layers in the early season profile so far? What online avy resources do you guys use up there?

    www.avalanche.ca

Others with more knowledge will likely have other resources that are more local, but avalanche.ca is a good starting point for avy forecasts, a good mountain-centric weather discussion and weather stations throughout the province.

So the highways were plugged or closed as anticipated. 60cms either fell or were falling on day 4. Another 20 fell for day 5.

This was Thurs and Friday midweek. Despite temps supposed to go to 1400m it snowed heavily to valley floor. Meanwhile just 100kms south of us in the Valhallas and Nelson and the Rossland range it was raining to 1800m. Woooahhhh dodged a bullet

Took a bit of time Friday also to walk.a friends dog over in the Big Eddy and punch a track in the Lower Fingers to see how things are. Still some alder despite us sawing a bit but next storm cycle should do it. Vehicles are getting pretty buried

Woke up Saturday to rain. Well it was a good run.

Highway cleared up a bit so more people got through. Still not super crowded but mixed precip turning to heavy snow at top of gondi. Still decent but heavier snow throughout. But definitely not pillow bashing all the way to mid mountain today.

Skied half day then off to slay Mt Toffee Brownie

Yah went up to RMR today and unfortunately were weren't spared from the Pineapple Express warm up that hit hard jusr south of Revy... Not as bad as further south but there is now a rain and thaw crust up 1700m on all aspects of Revy. Far cry from the waist deep kooptenay colds moke on Friday. Rock solid base now though.
