This. Saw this ad right after visiting family at Thanksgiving where about five people did peloton workouts. So Mrs. Plug and I kinda raised eyebrows at each other, then we both assumed it was a shitty and creepy ad. Well played, peloton.

It is funny that if you put a fit person on an exercise bike all of America goes off the deep end. Golf clap for Peloton getting millions in free publicity. #wahoo

So, for the cost of a Peleton, I can get rid of the wife unit?

the Peloton commercial where the two exhibitionist/narcissists go at it from opposing high-rise apartments with no curtains is particularly creepy.

Maybe a prenup that says she gets a peleton upon divorce?

Other than the surface level grossness of these commercials, there's always this undercurrent that the little woman can't be trusted with an important decision like what kind of car she'd like, too.

I have wondered what the social psychology with these ads are, because they've been going on for decades, the car with the bow on top. They can't really expect many people both could and would do this- so maybe it's to generally fuel a "keeping up with the Jonses" feeling in viewers to buy cars?

I once overheard one side of a phone conversation, where the woman was literally screaming at the top of her lungs at her husband who bought a new car for the family without consulting her at all. Seemed like a normal reaction to me, I wonder if they are still married.

    The cars for Christmas commercials
IIR, Jalopnik did an informal quiz on this, and nobody ever gave or received a car for Christmas, except somebody got a Yugo or some other POS. The bow alone cost ~$500. It was surmised that it's just car ads w/ a xmas theme.

I "bought" my now wife a car with a bow on it when I was 23. It was a zero down lease, in her name (not sure how I pulled that off). The payment was 500 bucks and I was making 3k a month if I was lucky--just the sort of bullshit personal finance decision that big Corp and credit companies are counting on young dumbshits to make over and over.

Anyway, just because it doesnt make sense to you, that doesn't mean it isn't happening. There are a lot of idiots out there who don't know any better until they do.

As for this peloton thing, who gives a shit. So many assumptions being made as a foundation of all the criticism. My wife is my partner in crime till death do us part, and even then God help whoever tries. She works hard for her money/our money. Same difference to us. We buy each other shit all the time even though either of us could buy it for ourselves. She still gets giddy like a slutty little gold digger with daddy issues, even though only 2 of those 3 attributes apply.
