meadows was pretty good today. Super light snow over crust, but enough new in spots to have a good time.

Got pretty much waste deep turns on God's Wall after a pretty spicy and boney top entrance, but other stuff around the hill was not as delectable.

Surprisingly busy. They are taking a lot of heat for not closing on their facebook page. I hope they can stay open, but I can see them calling it.

    Nice shot Tap!!!

In other news, Bachelor officially pulled the plug.
Closed March 15th-22nd, to be assessed further as the situation continues to develop.

    Well that sucks
Big question is whether they can keep the workforce together to allow a restart.
I may have to do the 'Doo this week
    Or hike

    Fresh update:

The suspension will include all lift operations, on mountain food and beverage, retail and rental services. Including uphill ski touring.

Head north of the border, don’t stop in the battle zones, head for the hills, wash your hands and ye shall find pow for days.

I wonder how long Meadows will hold out. Planning on being up there tomorrow if lifts are turning.

Don't see any mention that MHM is closing. I guess they are germaphobes.

Rather painful to not be able to access that fresh snow at Bachy. I guess I will go shovel my driveway now...

Hoping our local hills adopt a way to stay open like no retail or interior food service...might gel w/ spring weather nicely

Props to Meadows and Bachy. True test will be if they have the ball$ to stay closed for spring break, when the case count will be much higher and probably still accelerating.

De facto spring break is here, no? All k-12 schools closed in OR and WA, most colleges going all online.

Has Meadows banned uphill travel like bachy? If not, you know where to find me.

I think the “temporary” closure, at least at Bachelor, gives them time to assess two factors:
    1. How many new COVID cases pop up
    2. How many people cancel hotel reservations for Spring Break(s), and start asking for spring pass refunds.

More cases means more legal exposure, now that Vail, Alterra, et al created defacto “best practices” by closing

I’m thinking that even without the announced resort closures elsewhere people were already cancelling Spring Break travel plans. So I’m betting MtB is worried about lower revenue for the final 2.5 months. This week’s shutdown gives them a good data point on how bad the shortfall might be.
