It might take more than a night to freeze 1.5” of rain!

Hood NE face
I get on this thread like once a season or something, guess it’s time now. Regarding Hood NE side, yes it has been skied, probably several times. Usually we’re talking the NE face itself, not the actual L/R gully climbing routes (what Coombs/Koch did; if you like mandatory airs/rappels over ice then maybe that’s your thing). Anyway, that face does go totally clean but you need to know where you’re going, particularly the exit onto the Eliot. It is an awesome descent if you’re up for it, sustained steep, pucker-ey, usually better snow than Cooper Spur proper due to aspect/less sun rot, and gimpy you would freakin’ LOVE it! I would compare it roughly to Adams NFNWR in terms of sustained steepness, but tighter and more interesting in spots.
Don’t tell anyone.
First time I did it was in freakin’ JULY like 4 years ago and the route barely went. I basically went down the top of the main spur route for the upper 3rd and then diverted onto the NE face:
Long-ass TR here:

Second time was memorial weekend the next year and way better snow conditions. That time I dropped right off the summit into the main NE face snowfield above the main L climbing gully for the upper 3rd, then same route as before down the rest of the face.
When we got to the summit before we dropped that time there was this guy standing there with skis looking directly off the true N side of the summit (kinda between where the L/R gullies top out), which looked like it *might* go but was sketchy, and he’s standing there and I’m like, “you gonna drop in there??”, and he’s like, “yeah, I think it’s good”. Uh, OK. Sure enough, he did and made it look sweet. Turns out, dude was Noah Howell. I wondered why everyone else up there was talking to him like he was a rock star!
Here’s another annotated pic. Green is upper part of descent line my first trip. Red is the descent the second time. Blue is Noah’s upper line. Dude is a legit badass, super chill too.
Braaap!

Could have done without the wind, but it's June, so what do you expect?
I didn't go to the top, about 1/2 up Summit it turned into wind scoured ice. Not my cup of tea. Let these folks know what to expect higher up.
But it was good in the wind blown soft, creamy powder that was just off the ridges.
Snowed down to the parking lot, even if just a dusting. But who is complaining when it is June?
