Bachelor has been fun...been on boards the past couple of days. Chalky snow where the wind has been blowing it...feel like the ice is starting to get buried. Today didn't seem too crowded.
Hoping tonight's storm delivers.

Woke up expecting more than the dusting currently at WP. Where’s the snow?

It was nuking all day at Meadows and then even more last night. The pic of my camper is from this morning and I had cleared 4-6 inches off before I went to bed at 10pm. And those 4-6 inches accumulated over the course of 2-3 hours tops. Before that, it was snowing sideways for most of the day. Despite all that, the snow that's up here is pretty typical , if not even more cascade-y than normal. It's not leg breaking mashed taters, but it isn't what I was hoping for when we decided to camp. Beyond that, there are still so many areas of stealthy gray ice. Definitely not expected given the seemingly massive snowfall.
Upside: skiing beats not-skiing pretty much any day, and today is no exception. Grom learned how to skin and kick turn in Bennett lot, and we built an anatomically correct snowman. NSFW on that pic...

Today looked like this
Found knee deep in a few places all morning before my legs (and health-preservation) said enough
Somehow we managed to avoid the lines and get after it, just the boy and me.
I really wasn’t expecting much, but 6” overnight skied great on top of Saturday’s fluff. Temps kept it all cold. What a sleeper day it turned out to be!!

Timberline skied amazing today too. They “said” 10-inches fell but it too was knee-deep in spots (especially the trees off West Pitch, between Vickie’s/Molly’s and a few other spots). Wasn’t skied out by lunch when my buddy’s legs have out (his 3rd time skiing, ever) and we left. Had a great day overall.

Don't know any real details. Rumor I heard was a long slide on a firm surface. RIP.
I definitely encountered some bulletproof conditions while traversing over to clark today.
Had a small plane looping low overhead this evening for about an hour near pea gravel. Seemed like he was looking for something.Last edited by river59; 02-17-2020 at 11:52 PM.

Sunday and Monday were good at Ski Bowl.
My boys and I had fun showing some friends (strong intermediate) around yesterday.
Here is my littlest demanding a little alone time on the chair.

Ugh, 2nd death in Heather: https://www.oregonlive.com/news/2020...er-canyon.html
Article said he was visiting for work and stayed for a few ski days - it sounds like he was probably out there for a few days before anyone went looking for him, pretty awful. Condolences to family and friends.

Last few passes overhead were focused on the AbMag through S&R zone. Be safe out there.
RIP Mr Bauters.

2019-20 - Oregon - it never snows here and when it does, it sucks
There is a 700 vertical foot, continuous sheet of exposed ice directly below and a little bit skiers left of the Twilight Bowl gate. Careful out there, my friends.
