Didn’t make the cut to get a reservation at Timberline, but I skinned up Palmer glacier today. Uphill travel is back! Fairly busy up there today but plenty of parking with Timberline running at reduced capacity. Snow was wet and heavy but got better the higher up you went.Click image for larger version.

Magic Mile was running but not Palmer. Looked like there were a couple guys working on Palmer around midstation. Made me wonder if they’ll try to get Palmer open soon.

Timberline is flat everywhere, but the turns higher up Palmer were still pretty decent. I’m just glad to have access to snow again!

    !
Palmer had storm damage this winter. They are making fixes and upgrades.

There is plenty of pitch to be had not far from Palmer. There is fun to be had in White River Canyon, around Illumination Rock and Saddle, all around Crater Rock, and of course from the summit and summit ridge. Visibility is helpful though.

Congratulations, Oregon! I'd be psyched to ski on Hood (and other volcanos) right now.

Agreed. But that might be what resort skiing looks like next winter. Every powder tech in greater Pugetopolis(and plenty of other people) is writing a little program that will auto-populate those lift ticket reservation forms the instant they're available. We might need to queue up next week to get a shot at riding chair 2 next winter.

Can someone who visited Timberline today please report on conditions, what lifts were open and approximately how many cars and people were skiing? Thanks jimmiepoison for the report and pic of Palmer a few days ago!

Go look at T-line’s website. I believe it itemizes the lifts & the max occupancy.

Main parking was approximately 1/3 full, overflow was closed except for back country touring. Conditions were pretty wet, but weather looks like maybe some colder temps Thursday. As far as lifts it was just mile and normin. Never waited in line and the protocol was strict.

At least that first pic is not upside down, that's an improvement, eh?

Soft turns in mid may during the Corona, nice work.

It doesn't take long to lose your ski legs. Any takers on a reservation?

2019-20 - Oregon - it never snows here and when it does, it sucks

^^^ Gimped both arms biking - clavicle one side & hand other, I think?

TFT, I hope you’re starting to get some functionality back...
