Since were on the front edge of the outbreak in the US, my guess is all resort skiing is done for the year. Sucks. Hope I'm wrong

Meadows was decent today. Most of Star was skiing well and found a few powder stashes in Heathers. Hoping we can get a few more spring days in, but I too think this might be the last of day of the season. Time to break out the skins and earn some turns!

Please think to support your favorite local mountain establishments by buying gift cards. It will give them cash flow in this vital time to maintain their fixed costs, and we will just be paying ourselves forward.

2019-20 - Oregon - it never snows here and when it does, it sucks

It’s federal land, which a company has leased. You can go hike around on it

True. Meadows is on federal land and a special use permit exists which allows Meadows to restrict uphill travel during the ski season, if they so choose...

    See bachy.

Looks like Hoodoo and Ski Bowl are still open today. We’ll see how long they hold out.

MHM conditions page : "During this week while operations are suspended we will not enforce our restricted up-hill travel policy that is in place throughout the winter. "

I think that’s the lift served season

Oregon Health Authority has modeled a 6.2 day doubling time and is anticipating that we will have a statewide hospital bed shortage in April (don’t quote me on the exact correctness of that, look at the transcript from the governor’s press conference today). They are thinking they have to add 1400 more beds in April to handle the need. Note that Washington state is currently doubling every 3 days.

Just look at what’s going on in France and Italy right now ... not enough hospital beds or equipment to treat the ill. If that plays out here, the Oregon resorts will likely be in no position to reopen this season.

And yeah, I just cancelled my Norway trip, it was wishful thinking that I would have been able to leave my family in a time of global crisis ... but the Norwegian government made that choice for me by shutting down all inbound travel except for Finland and Sweden.

Stay safe, and 6 feet apart, on the skintrack!

Hoodoo just threw in the towel...based on the Govenors 25 person gathering limit. Bachy’s sad announcement can’t be far off.

I will, as soon as they disclose their financial statements for the last few years. Simple math and the eye test say both Meadows and Bachelor are having record revenue years. I’m more concerned about their employees who are out of work now.

I am thinking about the owner operator coffee, pizza, ramen joints that we all would normally stop at.

Resort employees will be eligible for unemployment. Sole proprietors won’t be.

Notice anything odd, aside from the lack of cars in the lot?

After spending a beautiful day touring around heather, PG, and newton yesterday, I arrived back at my car to find this BS. Both fucking windows too...

I was parked at the Heather runout. Maybe 6 cars were there when I arrived and I was the last to leave around 7pm. While driving back I noticed that a truck parked at pocket creek had also been hit by the shit stain.

Weird thing is they took an empty sunglasses case, but missed my wallet AND my hand sanitizer!
