First run off the Top I picked my way into P3 and skied the wind ridge down then cut over. Good snow, didn't hit anything.

Light got a little better late in the day. CH 23 never ran, so hiking up to Dropout and Wipeout was worth the hike.

The Whites with late afternoon sun on them.

Looks like the next storm is due in at the end of the week. According to Open Snow Tahoe Mammoth had a six day total of 79" of snow. I'm out the door.

    Yeah ESS!

Nice shots! And thank you for helping pack things down for us. I can't make it this weekend, but we have a 7 day trip planned starting the next weekend. I should get a day or two locally this weekend, just to break in the legs and boots.

The P3/P4/Philippe's area is one of my favorite parts of the mountain. How was it getting into the noids? I imagine it was pretty bony.

Stoked. We have a 3 day trip in January and a 5 day in February planned. Stoked to get some winter snow at Mammoth.

For sure you need to ski smart, take your time getting into stuff, and don’t get pow fever and charge into something you haven’t scoped out. Example yesterday was people charging down Climax. I never even considered it. Way to bony, Climax had season ending injury written all over it.

Patrol lifted the closure on 22 today, now it’s a boundary, ski at your own risk. Hiked into avi 3. Good skiing.

Another pretty good day today. The Top was a mix chunk & funk. Snow seems to have gotten a bit thicker. The skis I first went out this morning on were 99 mm underfoot. One run off the Top and I felt “under gunned” in the crud. Quickly swapped those out for a 106 mm wide ski and felt better. More gray skies made for less than optimal photo conditions, but here’s a few from today (Tue).

The closure on the 22 side was pulled today so we hiked into Avi 3 a couple times. Fresh pow & good coverage where the red line is.

Climax is still at low tide. Haven’t skied it yet due to fear of reefing out.

I was in P1 today. Lots of rocks until half way down, well hidden, so becareful. Had fun in the chair 14 tress, surprisingly good coverage, plenty of rocks a stumps to watch for.

I am in town solo until Saturday if anybody wants to give me a shout.

yeah low no vis day, more storm this weekend. they are cracking hard on van ppl in town, fyi.

parking in town is pretty much a no go, especially during storms.

after this next system and some settling out i'd imagine some bc will be possible..

Pockets of pow to be had today with a lot of work and searching. Vis was marginal at best, and not quite enough new snow to really fill things in. Even though crowds were low most everything got skied. Still, a fun day, little wind (by Mammoth standards), mild temp and a pretty wet storm, so good base builder.

Got out early yesterday and storm skied until 2:00pm. The new snow piled up quickly, and with it's wetter consistency it skied deeper than it actually was. My last few runs thru the tree's were over a foot deep.

First ride up ch 4 yesterday morning and it was dumping hard. Took one run off of ch 3 but vis was limited to non existent. Spent most of the day skiing the tree's over by 4, 16, and 22.

Hiked up to the top of Avi 3 a few times. Once your in and take the skiers right line I didn't hit anything. Also skied the Acts a number of times and traversed/poled back to ch 4. Good skiing and coverage. I can hear blasting going on right now so I'm out the door. Today looks to be the best day this week weather wise. Enjoy the mtn.

Multiple hotel workers saying bookings are pretty slow for this weekend, sounds like the crowd might be thin. Looking forward to some fun storm riding.

Snow this morning was thicker & crustier than yesterday. Wind affected & ripped in places. Skiing off the Top ranged from just O.K. to super thick, wind crusted chunk and funk. I almost left by noon (like many others), but noticed that the winds were building from the South West with gusts to 40+mph by 1:00 pm.

Winds are building out of the South West and some wind buff is starting to form. West Bowl.

Dave’s. Still has not opened yet. Looks inviting.
Ski Patroll web page shows current wind speeds over the top as of 12:45 a.m. Friday gusting over 40+mph from the SW. Could be good tomorrow.

Some nice wind buff today. 3 and 5 ski very well on chalky wind packed powder. Did one run on Dropout 3 and it was a mix of wind buff, pow and hard pack...very difficult to ski. Wierd mix of conditions up high, but mid mountain was tits all day.

Parked in my usual weekend spot today, double stacked in the middle of the chair 4 lot, and came back to a sticker saying I was parked in violation and subject to booting and towing.WTH?

Cool looking layer of Pogonip fog rolled into town this morning. The fog bank stretches from the North towards the Mono basin....

Yeah, amazing day with the fog hanging in the valley all day. Bluebird up high with just a touch of wind later in the day. Temps stayed cold so the snow was dry and chalky all day...fun stuff, but tomorrow things should change. We shall see.

Just started snowing at about 6:30 a.m. this morning. It’s 30 degrees at Main Lodge with wet, heavy snow coming down. Bottom of Eagle express (ch 15) is showing a temp of 34 degrees.
