FYI, Baldy plans to only run chair 1 for skiing on Friday, assuming stability allows it.

I'm wanting to try out my new shift bindings prior to some planned Jan road trips, so thinking Baldy ski area Sat or Sun. Sunday seems like it might be less of a shit show. But if they get everything running today. Hopefully CHP will be enforcing 4x4/chain/# cars, at bottom of road.

One and done with Big Tim.
Skied Morgans Grove over to Bentleys Dream and called it a day.
Usual Baldy with lifts buried but expected it.
Snow players were parked in the road again.

Did you guys skin up or take the lift? How's the snow quality? See any natural slides or control work with results?

Will probably go up tomorrow - early.

    Rode the lift up.
A local was skinning up and making better time than us.
Lift line was over a hour easily.
    I heard 2 hours.
    Loading every other chair.
True 36 inches on the hill.
They were throwing hand charges which I never seen happen before.
Upside down pow, you want to be on top of it for sure.

^^^yeah, glad it turned out that this year was our year not to go to MSO for xmas.

Baldy ski area was fun today. 2nd customer loading chair 1 just after 8. Few laps on 2, before thunder opened. Chair 4 around 10. Finished with few laps on 1. Wind buff, old powder and hot powder turns. Legs done around 1:45. No crowds. CHP had road closed for uphill traffic, so drive down not bad.

Has anyone taken the team and skied the terrain around San Jacinto Peak before? Thinking about heading out there on the 1st.

San J gets skied often, and there have been quite a few reports here. Seek and yee shall find.

Terrain is very mellow(except snow cr), so I only go up that way when all other options are out. NE slope of Jean peak is best for storm or soon after storm powder. SE slope of San Jacinto can have nice corn, but takes a lot of snow to fill in. Nice views from the top. ~3 mile slog on flat to get to each, following hiker path can be easier, but longer distance. Last year the road to the tram washed out, I think 2015 was the last time I was up that way. Make sure to get first or second tram and expect to see wilderness rangers, so have whatever paperwork they require these days.

    Very nice 406!

I'm back east right now, but I should be able to get a couple of Baldy days when I get back, probably Friday and maybe one this weekend. With the swell lining up the way it is Friday could be a surf AND ski day.

    Thankyou 406 for the videos.
Happy that thick pow has consolidated to manageable levels to the parking lot.
    Chair 4 looked untouched.
