    Gahan Wilson: R.I.P.

Along with Edward Gorey and Charles Addams, he formed the holy triumvirate of macabre cartoonists...

I agree. Made me really sad inside. But death comes to all of us, no matter how much insight we have. It's essential.

I vividly remember seeing Wilson’s cartoons in the late 70s as a kid. Very distinctive, almost Lynchian — the dark underbelly of ‘normal’ life.

Your typo threw me (haven’t had my coffee)...I was thinking Wait there’s someone with almost the same name?

    ^thanks for catching that typo!

BTW, his novels--Eddy Deco's Last Caper and Everybody's Favorite Duck--are highly entertaining..

    Not familiar with his novels.

Anyone who found the wood chipper scene in Fargo amusing would probably appreciate his humor.

Truly one of the giants; can only imagine his take on current events.

Fuck. Jake, John Mann, now this. Not a kind week for some of my heros.
Remember first seeing his cartoons in poached Playboys, late '60's maybe, 70 or 71. They were certainly the darkest cartoons I'd been exposed to date.
Can't help but think that his cartoons (along with Monty Python) shaped my psyche. Damn he was good at what he did.
