Enjoy every sandwich. Jake was a true badass. From the early days at the original shop Southern Vermont to Stowe
He bought a really badass house from the Nourjians and the parties were legendary. A very down-to-earth guy that would hang out at the Shed and chat over a cold beer.
He never let the fame and money go to his head, despite the company having a frat boy mentality. I hope he's chilling with Tom Sims and Craig Kelly right now

I don't often read Forbes... but when I do, I'm glad it's about Jake Burton Carpenter taking risks and getting it done. RIP.

This sucks. As always, fuck cancer.

Jake definitely changed the scene and had a major impact on the world. I only had limited interaction with him. Fresh out of college I worked on the design team turning the old GE plant into the Burton HQ as they moved up to Burlington. Great first project right out of school, even if I was the junior member on the team and my contribution to the design was figuring out the equipment layout.

My most vivid memory of the time was him not wanting the new Sto stucco finish to look new and shiny. He wanted it to look aged and "european". Took a while to find a solution but we finally found a couple of deadhead plasters who used paint and a solution made by soaking nails in a bucket of water and having them rust to get the look Jake liked. Had to schedule the work around the Dead's tour that summer.

Never really been a snowboarder, but it's hard not to recognize a legend. And that it all started in South Londonderry is way cool.

Ride in peace Jake. My first single plank ride was a Burton Outback in the mid eighties I think. Fortress Mtn was the only place you were allowed to ride... Wow Jake, you really did it man.

Dig the nordica sbh boots. Many pairs over the years. Maybe we should list all the hard boots that Burton made over the years. I never broke a pair. The red white and blue reactors were pretty cool. I had many pairs of hard boots from Burton and use their race plates to this day. Mostly flat, no cant.

Jake thought of everything to make the snowboarding experience complete.
Purchased at the Wrentham outlet for 10 bucks because the Chinese quality was such that the glue failed when you tried to pull the 420 container pulled away from the velcro. A squirt of Gorilla Glue fixed it. Had it for many years. 420 kit from Burton
    Thanks Jake
