There’s a nice hostel in Rico. No idea about transportation options, though. But if you have a car, it’s a lot cheaper to stay there than anyplace in Telluride. (Unless you camp out in a van in a parking lot.)

Glenwood Springs has a hostel on Hwy82 a few blocks south of downtown.
Take Amtrak or Bustang there, then RAFTA’s frequent buses up to Aspen.
Save Abay for May.

St Mortiz in Aspen sells bunks and they have a great huge outdoor hot tub...kinda pricey sometimes.

There is a cheap daily bus from Rico to T-ride one going and coming every day. And Rico just approved an increase in service.

I doubt many ski bums on the internet are that motivated to figure that out, but they should. Shhh.
