I was talking about back in the day when the 105, 120 and 138 came out. Post bamboo, pre-USA neavau (ph.) meh. skis.

Whatever, Stephan prolly saw this as his chance to own a 60' Viking.

I'm not saying that is a bad thing. I'd bet that Splat, who had a great design would have done the same thing, if he had the investment capital. ....but he would also have bought a really nice mobile home for maggot Burning Man carnage.

Cool. Forced removal of a self absorbed overinflated ego might help DPS actually grow as a company now that they can get past Chapter 1: How Stephen Drake Rejuvenates the Powder Experience.

I’d take his statement with a giant bag of salt. We might see DPS come to terms with the rest of the industry catching up while they have stayed flat. Tour1 is a joke, alchemist has lots of competition for $400 less and Foundation is miss marketed.

No. Just companies who's legal assholes decide it's time to bully a bunch of small companies, write an absolutely incomprehensible, laughable, non-sincere apology, and all of this ONLY because it's effecting their bottom line. All for the pleasure of owning the word backcountry.

Fuck Al, quite whining about this.

    What’s the “P” of DPS?

For a ski company, what does it mean to “grow?” Why is that important?

Not Drake Powderworks Skis. Unless it changed.

I will still go on the record as saying that they design and build some fucking incredible skis, with the caveat that the skier needs to understand the sort of input that their skis will respond to in order to get the most out of them. The label of "dentist skis" is preposterous for any reason but price. The majority of the DPS lineup has always rewarded the technically capable (i.e. powerful with good technique) skier.

Plenty of folks buying a turn with some wailer 112s.

Koala is pretty rad though. Red 190 Hybrid Lotus 120s were DPS’s peak.

While that's undeniably true about the Wailer 112, I would still argue that those people are not skiing that ski to its design potential. Sure, it's user friendly, but even that ski ripped if you acknowledged what it was realistically designed to ski like, and skied it accordingly.

    Disagree with this whole heartedly.

If your saying more engineering/testing has gone into your average DPS then why do the bulk ski like garbage. Also are you saying Scott’s designs are antiquated?!? You need to get on a current generation ON3P ski. Jaaaheeezzuss.

This is all about having the right tool for the job — In certain applications a DPS ski works wonders but in the bulk of situations ON3P takes the cake.

That’s worth quoting. Guess I’m mostly in the rough and raw camp.. It’s snow- slay it. There’s room for both makers in a quiver, each having different visions and in turn - different uses.

Have sold off all DPS except Alchemist Cassiar 95. Just purchased more ON3Ps

DPS are surgical instruments built for a medium that a paint brush is better.

Stockli Laser AX, Kastle MX -- those are surgical instruments that make sense.

    Fire and Ice bone saws?

Well folks as you can see for yourself the way this ski over here is behaving: snow is an affliction.

Now this might be cause for alarm on a portion of you that's from a certain experience I tend to proclaim: the eons are closing.

Now what does this mean precisely to the layman?

Simply this: Momentarily the need for the construction of the new plank will no longer exist.

Of course some of you will think, "Who is he to fell me from this light?"

But in all seriousness, ladies and gentlemen, a quick glance at the erratic behavior of the large precision built snow delineating apparatus beside me will show that it is perhaps only a few turns now...

Look how funny it's going around there! Personally, I find carving behavior of this nature to be highly suspicious.

When such a device doesn't go normal, the implication of such a behavior bodes not well (if you know what I mean).

And quite naturally ladies and gentlemen if the ski in question is entrusted with the task of the delineation of snow itself and ahh if such a ski goes "On the bum".... or the fritz... Well, it spells trouble.

No, it's sad they booted Mr. Drake, his heart was in it. Incredibly innovative designs. Props to him.

At least that is how I took it. Don't think it was meant as a comment on design/build quality/etc. Just different skis for different skiers.

Also see my signature 🙄. Let's keep our eye on the ball here.
Seriously, this can’t turn into yet another ON3P thread....
