Advice on Touring and Lodging near Tromso

I'm doing a trip to Tromso, Norway in mid-April 2020. We're touring from a boat (the Vulkana) for 5 days, but we have 2-3 days on both the front end and the back end to fill. We were thinking of likely hiring a guide for the days on the front end, and maybe self-guiding the days on the back end. The boat connection may be able to help with land-based guiding, but if not, any recommendations? Or other advice for lodging or close-to-Tromso touring areas? How easy is it to use one of the DNT huts without a guide?

Just for heads up, if you end up having shitty weather on your trip, we have good skiing in Kilpisjärvi, Finland. About 2,5hrs from tromso. We have more continental climate here and often nice sun shine when it's snowing or raining at Norway.
