Down/insulated Jackets
Anyone have a tip on a great value WARM insulated jacket that can be worn as an outer layer? Windproof too. Something for ~30 mph wind and down to -10 ish.
Like the Primo down, sync shelter parka, Theta insulated...all too $$$
Lots of good sales right now.

I'm a Primaloft fan, m'self. You might search for a now discontinued LLBean 'Heater hooded jacket'. Super toasty and a few minty used ones around for a deal, ebay, etc. Under a Hundo

The down puffy from EB looks dope.
But still, cariboo skin is where it is at.
Caribou Skin Clothing Beats High-Tech Expedition Clothing
https://warriorpublications.wordpres...tion-clothing/
In a comparison of traditional and manufactured cold weather ensembles:
"Elders continually stress the importance of wearing caribou (Rangifer caribou or Rangifer tarandus) skin clothing whenever travelling out 'on the land' in the fall, winter, or spring"
Test subjects "sitting for 60 min in an environmental chamber at -28"C, 65 to 70% rh with a 20 km h-' wind provided by fans" actually gained body heat while wearing cariboo skin.
If you are going to be that cold, do it right.
Of course, the down puffy's probably don't shed as much.

the best fix for major holes in down jackets is Tenacious tape but what to do for the little holes which are too small to fix with tenacious tape but still leaking feathers ?
get a bottle of clear matte finish nail polish which is cheap n quick drying , poke the feathers back in and dab a little on the hole, the nail polish will dry super quick and fix your probelm quick n easy
be careful leaving the stuff lying around or you might nave another problem cuz your GF or wife might ask " who does this belong to ? "Lee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know
