Pity about the rain right after the snow. East of Vall d'Aran we were lucky and got 5 inches of new snow after the rain and before the front died. Tuesday was a great day in Ariège and Andorra. Have fun!

Yeah, rain runnels, but only at lower elevations.

Today i skied a n facing couloir at 2500 m and the snow was good, though somewhat wind affected. Just enough to keep you alert, but not enough to not be fun.

Nice couloir, in pretty good conditions, winter snow, some breakable, some firm, but good overall.

Amazing TR! I'm also discovering the Pyrenees this winter (I'm originally from the French Alps).
If you want to share some turns!

I took a pass at npy, so I can ski at Cauterets, La Mongie, Gourette and Pic du Midi!

Living in Bordeaux it's pretty much the same driving time

And skied the couloir in the middle, in the sun.
Snow was ok, not quite corn.
Steeper than it looks, kind of scary to make the first turn. After this, i was ok.

Great couloir, skied in interesting conditions, ice, slush and everything in between.
Sure glad i had two ice tools on the way up.
Last time(2 weeks ago) i skied it, i side stepped for about 20 meters, scared to make my first turn.
Today, more courage, no side stepping, even though the conditions were very similar.
    Confidence works.

Almost my favorite snow, 6 inches of slush on top of an icy layer.

    The one in the middle.

Skied a south facing couloir in absolutely perfect corn snow. Not to steep,40 or so, so you could make nice, fast linked turns

From the top, another couloir, West facing, held powder, but maybe on top of ice. Will explore soon.

2nd and 3rd photos, this is all within the resort, maybe 1 hour skin gets you all this terrain.

Friends from California joined us for two weeks.

We skied a nice couloir yesterday, in pretty good spring snow.

Getting over the hump on top was pretty interesting, felt like a whale. Middle picture is our lunch spot where we transitioned from skinning to booting up. Glad i had my ice ace ready under the backpack shoulder strap.

You can do sidebends or situps but please don't lose that butt.

Not easy topping up when it's this steep.

On the other side of the ridge, a mellow face.
You could skin up the face, then walk a bit on dirt and drop into some of the couloirs, but i prefer to hike what i ski, especially stuff that's that steep, and with unknown snow c conditions.

Just about perfect corn snow. A bit sketchy climbing without my ice ace easily accessible.

30 minute hike from the lifts and untracked.

15 cm of fresh over ice. Skied ok though.

    Snowing and foggy.
Skiing not great, it will be better tomorrow, but i had to get out.
Yeah, and i forgot the ice layer under the powder.

But on the plus side, saw this couloir on the other side of the ridge, facing south. Good to explore on a sunny day.
