Yeah dudes. I got a nice ButterHack lap in yesterday and a CC Road ride on saturday. Both were refreshingly quiet. I've tried to sneak in some Airline laps as time allows, but afternoons are way to busy with locals, gapers, and dust. Might have to reserve Sky Mountain for early morning laps if I can swing it.

We had weekly dad ride last summer that started at 7 and we rarely saw anyone else all summer.

    2019/20 Aspen/Roaring Fork Thread

I will never see you guys, out on the trail.
I’m usually well into cocktail hour by then.

North facing stuff is really good.
    Valhalla yesterday and Verde today.
I hate to say it, but Verde was better.

Coming into town tomorrow night for some alfresco dinning!

Anybody hitting anything off Independence Pass today? Planning to do some skiing in the vicinity later this week.

The gate opening at noon, was too late for today.

I’m trying to get my crew up early tomorrow.

    2019/20 Aspen/Roaring Fork Thread

After riding my bike up there yesterday I'm way less excited to ski than I was a few days ago. Many areas melted out, ugly sun cups everywhere and lots of hiking on dirt for many objectives. I might still go but it ain't going to be good like last year.

It seems like things melted out really quickly down there this spring. Is there any substance to that supposition?

Yes, we’ve had 2 1/2 months of the perfect “stepford wives” weather you hated.

    It’s been glorious.

Tuff on the skiing, but good for the riding.

Yeah my wife rode the pass on Sunday with about half the RFV and said the snowpack was surprisingly slim. We'll still go up and ski something, but it may be more brown then white.

Crazy to think that we were skiing good turns on Ajax a year ago and had a legit powder day up on the pass on June 23rd.

Obviously not the best season, but still plenty to ski with a little motivation! Might make one more trip in the next week or two if things come together. Was a wee bit miffed to see the gates still closed by Lincoln Creek and Maroon Creek. Here's to a short summer.

A short reprise with 6”+ atop Aspen Mountain and a lot of trees snapped off in town. Should be a nice morning up on the pass

I wish it had just rained.
Tons of trees/branches on the trails.

No downed tree branches this morning, just nice tacky dirt! I have been having a delightful time on the mtb lately.

    Yes, it’s been good.
    Where did you ride?

I just hit Valhalla with the dog.

Thinking about maybe a solo N.Rim/7 Star.

I just did a quick Deadline lap before work. Takes less than an hour door to door so it's perfect when I'm in a hurry.

I rode S Rim to N Rim to Seven Star on Sunday, 7S was great.

Sky Mountain was money yesterday afternoon and relatively quiet. Heading up Buttermilk this afternoon and hopefully it's dried out up top.

Was caught by a clueless tourist on a rental e-biker on Airline. We told him about the restrictions, but he played dumb and said the shop didn't say anything. I think Open Space and Trails really needs to step up education/fines to shops that are taking these people's money and not saying a word about where they can/can't ride.

I did sneak a quick skin up the Buttermilk patch on tuesday. Total mashed potatoes by the afternoon, but nice to get some easy turns. Looking to head up the Pass this weekend for some mellow meadow skipping.

4th of July skied really well. That last snow left the surface like a carpet.

Nice, we got out there Saturday morning and were pleasantly surprised by the snow quality on the upper portion.

We didn’t hunt for the ladder and opted for an end-of-season boot wash
