Locals and Ikoneers alike seemed surprised that the gondola line wrapped around in the plaza yesterday, as if people wouldn’t rush out for a 7+” morning with all valley schools closed.

As it was about a 10-15min wait, it’s incredible how out of touch many Aspen skiers are with the reality of other major resorts on a pow day

Yup. That "huge" line yesterday around 10:30am at the gondy took maybe 10 minutes. Every other chair I rode yesterday was pretty much ski on, other gondola laps later on there was no line or maybe 90 second wait. And I heard sooo much whining from people all over the place.

    Meanwhile, at the Vail gondola...

I don't know man, I have seen plenty of "lol check out this lift line at <insert I-70 resort here>" pics posted over the years but the ones coming out of Vail this week are on a completely different level. Imagine being a tourist paying full boat: travel to Vail from out of state, shelling out whatever it is you have to pay for a week long ski trip (tickets, rentals, lodging, etc), and then dealing with that. There are people in that line who paid $209 for the privilege, on top of everything else. Unbelievable.

And they go to the bar afterwards with their new lift line friends and love the fuck out of it.

Less time skiing means more time gramming. I can't tell you how many times I heard yesterday, "but that first run was unreal, I could barely move." Well, you can't really move, can you? Start to finish.

yeah i was at gondi t 8, on second bucket and then skied 1a till 11:30 when the "line" disappeared. First run face to 6 was heinous but by 1030, there was another 3 inches and the skiing really turned on.
The people complaining about the crowds have no idea what they are talking about.

I didn’t get out, but today seemed like a pretty solid Monday pow day with 5” and light snow all day. End of the day at Ajax yesterday was nice and soft all around

Well, shit. Pilot couldn’t land the plane in aspen cause he’s amateur hour or whatevs, but glad to be in one piece. Took a luxury stretch bus to town from GCX and now it’s ‘on like Donkey Kong’ as I believe it is said in these lands.

Ajax tomorrow I think. Who’s DMs do I slide in to (is that even correct nomenclature?) to get some fun laps in? I can’t remember what sides are good when the wind blows from where....

Well, yesterday sucked. This place is terrible. Forecast called for partly cloudy, I was pissed they got it wrong.

Still free food at Bonnies after all these years. More ketchup needed, kept it low for aesthetics.

And of course the old ‘ski tips on traynors’ for my pals back home. >> HOT TIP: The top of the ridge is kinda thin cover with rocks and shit. Either hit T1 or T2 or wait for one more good dump of sticky-ish snow. Runs themselves had good coverage though. <<

Glad to see you got out and had a good time. Lot's of sun this week. Enjoy Snowmass today, a little chillier then yesterday.

Ikon is ruining the mountain...you are skiing during the week. It is pretty bad on the weekends. Alpine Springs was a shit show last Saturday, for example.

Alpine Springs has always been a shitshow though, in my experience at least.

Nice surprise little powder day yesterday at highlands. Old companions are in too much pain to ski so they took a down day, which meant I could get out and have fun start to finish alone.

There’s about a foot of fresh at the bottom 1/2 of the bowl and temerity, 3-6” on the rest of the mtn. Awesome day.

Showed up at 8:50, 3rd chair up. Where is everyone!

Warm and sunny today. Snowmass again, perhaps?

Well, another visit to the Roaring Fork Valley has ended. Somehow that town gets richer every time, but then the mountains are the great equalizer. New skis worked out great, the cool crowd in town was still cool, and even when things got busy on Saturday they still weren’t all that busy.

Got a dump and bell lap in for you guys. Hopefully next time you’re not all intimidated by my shred skills and you come out and hang.

Cheers y’all. You’re all lucky to live where you do. Until next time!!

Out here with the family, can't even ski (healing a bone), STILL mind-blown in this place. Never seen a nexus of mountain valleys like this. I'm in love.

The Elks are an amazing place.

Take a drive to Ashcroft down Castle Creek valley or the gondola to the top of Ajax.
