I Googled them and it didn’t jar my memory. I couldn’t find any pictures from around that time. They would have had 30 plus years on me and they were probably not hanging in the bar as much as I was at the time.

I’m over an hour to the east of Trollhaugen. My season pass is at Christie Mountain, but they aren’t open yet. I will be at Trollhaugen at least 1 day this weekend, if not multiple days.

Send a PM if you want to meet up. I’m fully vaxxed and boosted, and I will only ski with those who are too, so please include your vaxx status in the PM. Thanks, and hope we can meet up.

I’m at Trollhaugen again today. Snow is perfect, easy to get an edge in. Place has a fun vibe.

We had a great time at Lutsen. Mikey1299 great to meet you and how cool is it that our mini maggettes became quick friends and ski buddies. Not that surprising really, considering their dads had matching boots...lol. Thanks so much for the coaching, videos, pictures, etc. Look forward to seeing you and your family around the circuit in the future.

Conditions were good on what they had open...which was two runs on Ullr. No lift lines to speak of except for a short time Saturday morning. In general the skiing was fun and conditions were good, if limited. No white ribbon of death and easy to have the piste to ourselves when we skied. The wife and I went to the top of Mystery Mountain on our 3 hour exploration hike, which the dog thought was awesome. Lutsen is an awesome campus, snow or not. We still have lots more poking around to do. They had a lot of snow but seemed to have prioritized making snow in various places rather than getting things open for the weekend. I'm sure it will get better fast with mostly 24 hour snowmaking.

Regardless, the ski camp was an unmitigated success, as was the mini maggot mini summit.

Supposed to top out at 60 degrees here today. 42 on Saturday for deer hunting which is a bit better I guess.

Going to need some colder air to get skiing rolling at scale this far south.

Meanwhile looks pretty wintery on the North Shore.

Too bad I'm not in the "midwest" this season like you. Still high and dry out here in SW Idaho.

Are you back there still taking care of family?

I see Lutsen's expansion projects are running into some resistance from the Tribe up the road. They hired a new guy from out of the area, and he seems pretty gun ho on not letting this happen. There is no shortage of woods and water here, but that will be the argument they run with. We'll see how it shakes out.

First time skiing in 21 months! Afton Alps front hill was covered in racers most of the evening. At least they didn’t rope it off from the rest of us. They also loosened up the snow quite a bit! It skied pretty fast for such a warm evening.

Found a vintage Devils Head pin today in one of my drawers, I used to collect ski pins when I was young and skied there a lot. Then I thought they are probably still selling this exact pin today at DH, so maybe not exactly 'vintage'. it's the midwest after all.

Anyone with kids interested in a Medium Saga Anomie jacket from 2013? Mine was worn one season and is in good shape. Just want to see someone get some use out of it.

Can text pictures of mine specifically if anyone is interested.

Any Chicago mags with 28.5 feet, REI Lincoln Park had a pair of NEW condition Hawx Ulta XTD for 155$ upstairs in their member garage sale. It’s the navy blue shell with inserts - not sure if 110 or 120 flex, but it’s not the 130. Click image for larger version.

You missed a good day. Trollhaugen’s snow crew are absolute pros, for man made snow they seem to have it dialed. Super soft top to bottom, so easy to turn. A lot of people on the mountain, some humongous lift lines at times.

These kids ducked a rope and built a little 1 foot kicker. They went blasting through the leaves and dirt and launched it. These Midwest kids are so full of stoke, it’s unreal.

It seems like the 3 ski areas near me; Devil's Head, Cascade and Tyrol Basin have all figured out how to coat the ground with some compressed snow/ice and rough up the top 2" to get some edge grip. Little Switzerland, Sunburst and Heiliger Huegel in the Milwaukee area do pretty much the same thing with regard to snowmaking. Conditions are mostly consistent throughout the season which makes for good times with short vert

Pretty amazing when the "snow" is still on the ground after it gets warm in the spring. Tyrol used to use the Brewers old infield tarp to cover the halfpipe when the season there ended and pull the tarp off for Summer Snow Jam in early June

I went to a Snow Jam I think in '92. No skiers allowed in the pipe back then.

It was surreal to go on a humid day with green grass everywhere and then a halfpipe.

About a couple weeks before I escape the Midwest... Maybe next weekend? I'd like to ski with the former Big Sky mayor before i return to either OR/ID. I've skied Big Sky while living in MT but never made an effort to meet you so I think I should make it up here.

Sweet ! We can trash talk about Pat at Snowbowl.

I will be at Christie Mountain this weekend, assuming they open. PM me your text digits and vax status. Let’s meet up.
