I was at Troll yesterday evening. Sloppy, wet snow. Got better as the sun went down.

Gun show surprised me, was grabbing my pass and saw someone marching thru the parking lot with a shotgun like he was some JROTC reject, missed the Pic of him though. Think typical small town Wisco redneck.

Hah. I think I’d take something I didn’t mind putting a few creases in. Plenty of skis in the quiver that have seen rocks.

My vision for the revolts is as a Bohemia ski though…. Something for tight trees but can still hang.

Ended up sleeping in today. It was a long week. Then the Wild managed to disappoint me and waste a couple hours of time.

    No gun show for me.

Lutsen did not disappoint. Thursday the snow was awesome. It satyed cool enough where even with the sun the snow held up really well. They left a few trails ungroomed, but as expected, kids and I found a few sharks. Got a little busy around 11 but cleared out around lunch and never got congested again. Wind was howling out of the west so didn't ski Eagle mountain at all.

Out for first chair again Friday and started on moose again. Never got above freezing Thursday so snow was outstanding. By 1030 Thing 1 was ready to hit Eagle and the girls stayed on moose. Skied all the blacks from skiers right to left in order twice before he wanted to hit the pool. They all were fun but the bumps on upper and lower Hari Kari were in great shape. I suck at bumps so it was fun to push it and get out of my comfort zone. I made the mistake of showing junior the video of Candide zippering them. Surprisingly, it only resulted in 1 complete yard sale where I was concerned for his well being.

On day 3 the girls had enough so we hit a bunch of spots on the lakeshore from gooseberry falls up past Grand Marais, Temperance River State Park was our favorite. Hit Hungry Hippy Tacos in Grand Marais for late lunch, recommend stopping if you're in town.

18” to 32” forecast for tomorrow. I swapped my summer tires on Sunday. Just swapped snows back on when I got home from work. If I’d known that’s all it took I’d have put my summers on weeks ago when the lifts were still running.

This funky heavy snow feels like GPO or Renegade? Won’t matter because I’m a dull boy who has to work. Meetings with The Bobs (8 of them in total) all week.

I just got an email from a weed dispensary up by Bohemia that they are shutting down early due to “intense snowstorm”.

Yeah right… I bet their workers have Revolts and declared that the Powder Rule was in effect.

Nope. All turns are earned as far as I know. Bohemia spun up last weekend and if they get snow up there they may again. As far as I knew it wasn’t really snowing much out that way, though.

Sorry I am late responding to this.

Your buddy will like Eau Claire. Lots of parallels with Missoula. Older logging boomtown with a river right through the middle of downtown, turned into a university town known for a party atmosphere. I could definitely live there.

Do you or your buddy know non-mag Nick G ? He was a local snowboarder in Big Sky who guided for Gallatin River Guides. He mostly guided the Madison, and he also worked several seasons in Craig for Headhunters. Anyway his wife got into a PhD program in Eau Claire so he bailed on Big Sky and became a Musky guide. He appears in a Huge Fly Fisherman musky video. He says he loves living in Eau Claire.

Definitely look me up when you come back here. I think you pass within 5 miles of my island when you drive to your sisters cabin. Guest bedroom available for wife/Walter/all are welcome. It will be great to see you again.

Where did you mount those Revolts? On the line? Any hole overlap?

Hole conflicts were actually sort of tricky with FKS at my BSL and whatever you had going on before. I ended up about 0.5cm to 0.75cm forward, I think. Had to reuse the rearmost toe holes that happened to have the same width as the rearmost FKS holes, or near enough. Otherwise I’d have had to go way forward or way back.

I’d post a pic but apparently that’s not a thing anymore.

Lutsen was great this weekend, skied Friday and Saturday. Cold nights and warm sunny days. First trip there with my 5yo, won’t be the last.

I am doing something cool today.

You may heard in the national news that the Ice Age Trail has been upgraded in the National Park system.

Park Rangers are hosting a public meeting today at the town hall in Weyerhaeuser WI today to go over the changes. There are several trailheads close by my house and I am excited to hike on them this summer. I will attend today’s meeting and get info, i hope they have maps available.

Weyerhaeuser is the gas station where midwest Maggots usually meetup for ski trips to Christie Mountain. The Ice Age Trail runs within a mile or so of the ski runs at Christie Mountain.

That is awesome Harry. I follow some Ice Age trail groups and need to do some sections (Devils Lake for instance).

Have always had a fascinating with through hiking but have only ever done week long backpacking trips that are more camping focused than miles. Love to listen to the Backpacker Radio pods. Not sure I could ever actually do a super long hike (which is why I think I am fascinating...not knowing if I would get bored or lose motivation and leave trail quickly), but the Colorado trail, Superior Hiking Trail are probably within my attention span. PCT would be my first pick for a long one if I managed those shorter trails. Ice Age is the only one within arms reach though.

Yeah, no backpacking or thru hiking on my agenda. Those days are way behind me. I’m just looking for day hikes. The new reroute will have a trailhead 10 minutes from my house. Stoked!
