I had not visited this thread in a bit. You guys made me laugh out loud really hard, which I REALLY needed today.
Shit happens, right? Some skiing, some biking, some in the grocery store (my worst injury ever...). But we can make small decisions in an ongoing way that big picture make our margins bigger. That's how I see this "stay at home" thing. Make your margins so that you can self-rescue and self-repair.

How about this thunder and lightning?
At least we don’t have to worry about forest fires. That would be just too much.Forum Cross Pollinator, gratuitously strident

While searching for some vintage local things, I came across a few images that might interest some of youse mags:
That's a lot of snow in the cooler right there.
Coupla ski schoolers doing a marketing gig in '93; Lev and Schnitker.
Close ski bud on the left with a wicked funny ski bum humor streak and arguably the best technical skier at JH.
The original top dock of the tram; In heavy weather, that set of stairs was treacherous.
The original chair at Snow King; nevermind the sketchball one seater, look at all that open land in downtown Jackson. Dang.
Togwotee pass the other day...
Rendezvous bowl looking as full as I've ever seen it. Coupla days ago.

Yup, that's John G. , See him around the valley pert regular, def some in winter, but maybe more a pass guy. He's a twin, isn't he?
Lever - Ever since he got a new hip, he's a pretty happy guy. That and a lifetime pass and Emeritus status in the SS goes a ways. His many years of free living at the Bunker may end soon as Capt. Bob is gone now.. Still skis every damn day though. Goes for months without going to town...
Back in the 80's he spent an entire winter living out of a storage locker in the basement of GV north, About 6' wide by 10' deep by 7' high.Kinda heated, though.
I think Mag Kokomas owns that space now, Ha! fer reelz.
I saw Hunt only once this winter. I was in pole position in the ganjala line and I hear "Hey fucker!", and it's John. walking thru SS line w/a client. Had not seen him since before last years neck cracker in Spacewalk. Gave him a hug as he's one of my favorite locs. On and up then.
There's Matty, Ernst, Buddha, Wade, Leger...et al.
We skied 7 Dwarfs then all through the ABC's as I remember. Casimiro was on the camera.
Ernie used to be on the world pro mogul tour as a late teen20 something. One of the fastest I've ever seen down a lower face. Super G speeds in classic crud. He'd get up early, livin' at the volley firehouse in TV, catch an early worker box, sign out for S&S, stick it for the first fly-by, and go back to bed.
Funny , the shit you guys notice.
And those cards are cheap on the 'bay...Connie would spaz if peeps stole her decorations.

Hunts doing good. Did a lap with him and chatted a bit over the winter. He’s happy to be skiing again.

Good stuff DJ, that is the kind of legacy/history that non-ski towns will never achieve.
