We were all over today, despite dodging some danger dogs. Will be at Casper at 11. Black pants, mint free ride jacket, looking like a gaper.

Tomorrow will be fun. Jtran and I will be at Casper at 11, depending on snow will be cool with a lap or two, unless it’s good! Also, would love to take a hut tour for some vibes if the snow isn’t falling yet

Been spoiled in the land of the spoiled.
Djongo, b bear have given me the red carpet treatment.
I see why this place has a gravitational tractor beam and how it's easy to come and not leave like a new gal leaving her toothbrush at you place.
Snow tonight=stoke meter pegged.

I found a pole in lower turkey chute on sunday. let me know the brand/color and i'll try to get it back to you. i'm in driggs. coming out avalanche canyon with 3 poles was a little weird but certainly easier than whomever did it with a single..

Winter storm warning kiss of death. Hopefully the mid week storm delivers.

So what is the local consensus on how much new snow will be required to cover that temperature crust? Trying to decide if I should stick around here and hope the forecast pays off later in the week, or pull the plug and head elsewhere.

no consensus yet. like anywhere, a foot of dense snow is often enough to cover up shitty crusts, but I remember a day last year where my first run down the granny chutes had me blinded by 16 inches of blower, while hitting ice bumps almost every turn underneath. storm appears to be coming in somewhat upside down, with cold temps weds night/thurs morning, and maybe getting up to 32 at JHMR base friday...
no one knows. RPK forecast on jhavalanche.org is a bit too far out for good clarity, the more detailed/longer range NWS riverton forecasters discussion on jhavalanche says its probably gonna snow big but too far out for lots of confidence, and the jackson hole opensnow guy (who I think lives in CO) is still saying "12-24 inches from weds night-saturday morning! keep an eye out for details". if it's on the higher end and we get that good wind, friday is gonna be TITS and thursday could be good storm skiing if wind cooperates.
there's no place I'd rather be during a big storm than JHMR, so if you have the time to wait it out, could be a blast. if you leave and if that turns out to be the wrong choice, you should probably wait a bit before looking back at this thread to avoid fomo.

Looks like you found some fun lines! Glad we were able to get you pointed in that direction.
Hope to make it back over sooner than later now that I’ve had a few days out. Drive back over this morning wasn’t too bad. In hindsight, I should have stopped at Targhee for some laps.
