miles clark hit the dead trees tuesday
https://snowbrains.com/jackson-hole-...eck-yesterday/
also saw this from targhee. glad it ended better than it has in the past
https://snowbrains.com/skier-got-ver...-huge-cornice/
It appears that the person walked out onto an enormous cornice and then fell through that cornice.
It appears that the person likely partially fell through the cornice, caught themselves, then was able to escape back to the safe side of the rope.
Had that person continued falling they may have died as a person did back in February 2016.skid luxury

'We believe in nuthing, Lebofski.'
Nice shot. Perfect window for tromping around.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those of you unfamiliar with that shot, it's the southeasterly aspect of Cody; so the back left side of the first southerly peak one sees when atop the tram.
From the Skyline-
Splitting the two stone walls is the perfect couloir 'Once is enough'. on the top lookers right, the big snowfield that doglegs behind the rock fin is 'Twice is Nice'.
No Name peak is to the left behind the tree and it holds the big face that looks back at you from everywhere.
What is that shot to the right in the foreground? I used to know.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The vill is firming up but we hope for a lil' sumpin soon. Otherwise the high off piste is chalky like ya like it. The bowl was exceptional to the gimp today. Even the unevenness.
Big sun after some cold ass days was welcome.
Groomers are good to excellent.
--Like almost race quality at times and places. Not A+, But A-...
Except for the business of a sunny Saturday, turns on or off were top shelf... Super gaper saw me languishing in the 4 box line but it was fine living on the summit, with a cup o' joe.
Thinking about my friends in the PNW, that I missed at AAI2020.

Ditto what DJ said regarding conditions. We found some nice turns up in the trees on Moran face and the ridge on right hand side of Buffalo Bowl was nice to finish off the day. Would anyone be up for something on the pass, Glory maybe on Monday morning before I head back to Boise?

Triple what DJ said. Tis the season where you play the chase the sun game. I’ve never skid a resort where the sun makes as much of a difference as JHMR. North is chalky and well skis like east coast pow according to BBear. South is hell when it’s frozen, but if you catch it right it’s anywhere from corn to fun slush. This is the season where you learn to get a feel for the mountain and how it skis. Only the 40+ year locals know where to be and when depending on the sun and temps, if I catch it right, I’m just lucky.

Jackson Hole 2019-2020 - & The 'Ghee, The King, Kelly Canyon, Pebble Creek
Miles is a maggot BTW. Forget his username, I think it might be Gopher or something like that. Sweet line, especially that last turn into the final air.
Winter refuses to return to CA (I’ve been wearing shorts and flip flops for weeks now) so despite having to audible to Utah earlier this month, still planning to come out your way.I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

Nice shot Passholer...
Flurries just started after 6 dry days. T'was getting a bit bumpy out there today. Still good but a little refresh will help.
Plenty of snow in the Tetons. Gonna be chilling for crowds this week, I bet. Hopefully until we close. 7 weeks away.
Golden ticket kicks in from 3/14 thru closing on 4/12.

WSTdeep, BBear, BBears hubby and I met up in the afternoon for a few sunny laps yesterday. Popped wstdeeps white spider cherry for a sunny Shot 7/8/9, then off to a tram and Gondi lap to close out the day. Took us 3(maybe 4?) years to finally make it happen but it was a blast, smiles for the whole crew.

Jeep Rubicon, big tires. Front end all caved in. I guess he thought he was immune to ice and drifting snow. Two hour wait

Actually, a chick in an Escalade (U of W alum plates) rammed into him going 40, he was in his lane (almost stopped). She was passing everyone in a whiteout. I was stuck in the opposite snow bank when that happened, the collision was about 30 feet in front of me. She sat in my truck for a few minutes, but I didn’t want to talk to her.
Studded snows and FWD saved my ass from being a bumper car.

I’m in transit to the motherland for the first time in forever. Last trip was when the tram was closed and rumors were that it may not come back. Maybe 15 years back?
I’ll be in the tram line tomorrow morning a bit before opening bell. All black outer wear, grey helmet and bright orange Voile skis with floppy heals. Don’t ask me for change for a nickel, but I’m happy to buy lunch and a beer for some turns with the kind, local crew.

The Tram was closed winter of 09’/10’, IIRC. We had the East Ridge chair, though!

East Ridge holds a special place in my heart, even today as a little ikon crowd oasis in its permanent guise.
