    Yep, nothing to see here.

And the soup there tastes like they wrapped the bouquet garni in a used sock.

    Now you're hitting low.
Those were my socks and brand new.
Curiously, did you really have that bad a time at the Alta?
    Got your skis stolen?
    Couldn't get a date?
If ever you want another go, look me up.

No, the skiing's fine there, though I prefer Solitude for some reason.

I don't ski ON3P or Praxis so I don't worry about people stealing my skis.

It's homey, unlike the Cold War missile silo bunker vibe going on down the road. Though I'm convinced I got a fungal infection from putting a bare foot on the carpeted floor of the GMD once.

A brief primer to the xover approach:
In a group of 10+, full speed like Jeremy Mcgrath through a supercoss whoop section, hollering like an Indian war party on the charge.

Sure, there are more civilized ways to handle it, but we’re men of adventure. We come to Alta for wild high-speed roller derby style traversing action.

Zermatt may be overrated for skiing but the mushroom soup with the baked on cap is to die for.

If you're really good you can go straight down the fall line in the zipperline and actually go faster from point A to B.

I had a realization a few years ago while riding the chair at Snowbowl when a buddy said that his wife was up skiing Vail for the week and someone said.....VAIL? EWE VAIL....or something of the like. I thought, here we are skiing at Snowbowl during a drought season and making the most of three snowmaking trails and actually enjoying the shit out of it most days and people are going to poo poo on Vail? Man, if you can't figure out how to have fun at Vail then this sport isn't probably for you.

I often get a bit of a chuckle from people that aren't very good skiers on how they only want to go ski at Jackson or Snowbird as if they can't drive a third of the time and have plenty of fun at a place like Purgatory. Shoot! Purg has some short steeps that are too much for some of these folks! I guess I'm saying that a lot of people are out there kidding themselves that they need to be somewhere more name drop worthy in order to have fun.

I left Jackson 17 years ago to come to Flagstaff mainly for an overall warmer climate but I had to make a big sacrifice on the ski side of things and I don't regret that all. Sure, I miss friends and skiing in Jackson but I've learned that you don't have to have the very best and elite mountain to have fun.

And for the guy that listed Snowbowl as over rated......sorry to hear but you missed out writing the place off and you didn't give it time to figure it out. In my opinion it's actually one of the most under rated places in the country, who the heck really raves about it hear in the ski world? We barely ever get any press and I can tell ya, most folks in other ski towns don't respect us as a ski area and tend to arrogantly scoff at Arizona skiing. I'm cool with that, stay in your overpriced resort town. Fine by me.

OK I give you that. But, more importantly,
What's going on with the Dirndl girl?

Edit: oh it might be a skiing bib. Nevermind. I'm drunk.

Edit editus: I must add asahidake on Hokkaido to the list. About 150m of good vertical and full of Americans.

I agree on the soup. Lost Trail and Snowbowl have great stews, soups, and chilis.
Some places not so much. Which is just lazy.

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I fucking hate soup. People think soup is a meal. SOUP IS NOT A MEAL. Soup is a damn appetizer. Soup as a meal is a recipe for slowly starving to death. My wife used to make soup for dinner and she couldn't figure out why I was starving 45 minutes later. It's all fucking water! What the hell's the point? I mean, it can taste good, but soup is an affront to caloric intake. Whoever decided soup was a meal should be slapped.

Also, soup isn't American. Soup didn't originate here. Soup came from all those other countries. Our founding fathers came to America for religious freedom and to escape the tyranny of soup. There is no fucking soup served on Thanksgiving or the Fourth of July for a damn reason.

    Fuck soup.
