No but Ski mag is. Excellent in-depth gear analysis, lists of the best resorts every year to help you decide where to shred, and articles about the best hot tubs in ski country. Next month I hope they do an article on who has the best fur shop, Aspen or Vail.

The irreverent advertorial fluff with pretty pics thatís Powderís bread and butter is done so much better, cheaper, and more timely on the internet that the answer is obviously no. I recently flipped through this years buyers guide (no I didnít buy it) just enough to confirm that theyíre riding this broken formula into the ground. The gear reviews are laughable. Even when they produce some real journalism, such as the quite readable article on the Fifty project, itís only an introduction to the subject for a general audience rather than the new and deeper perspective that would make it worth my $. There isnít a hope in hell theyíll still be in business in 5 years. The NYT Tunnel Creek article shows whatís possible in skiing journalism, but no one has developed a business model for producing that sort of quality on a regular basis.

The gear reviews from customers on site like EVO are ten times mor informative than a magazineís Best New Gear of XXXX

I am serious. How else would I decide where to shred this season? Iím on pins and needles each year wondering will Whisler get the No 1 resort, or Deer Valley, or will someone swoop in and take the crown?

I once played Chinese checkers with Dave MOE aka Captain Powder. He won but I think he's an expert since he carries a Chinese checker board with him when he travels

I'm sad in the pants to know that Vail won it this year...it comes free...I'm an addict and have a problem with anything about skiing in print. I read it ironically
