TRS80 with cassette tape storage in 1979. Used the RadioShack demo computer at the store for after school homework. And I actually used paper punch cards for COBOL programming in college. My first IT job used an IBM mainframe with 64kb ram.

    1964 boomer.

    And yet, it persists.

    I’ll revise accordingly though.

“Ok, Boomer” got played out faster than Zac Attack at the Max; or

“Ok, Boomer” is about as edgy as when the gang changed it to the Peach Pit: After Dark.

This thread keeps putting the Mike Watt/Eddie Vedder tune in my head.

The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70s.

Top of the class. Born before 1960 boomers benefited the most from the post war economy. IME.

I'm gonna make up some shirts that have, "Boomer, okay?" on them, it'll be like an all-purpose excuse. Maybe have some license plate frames made up too.

Expect many, many triggered people in response.

Random 20somethings will start yelling at you about social security, housing prices and Jimmy Buffett.

I think it also has a lot to do with where you grew up if you were born close to one of the cutoff dates.
More urban areas were probably quicker to pick up on the new trends of that generation.

In 1997 my 5th grade class still used Commodore 64s for computer lab, and most students already had farm jobs.
Despite being born in 87, I don't really identify with millenials at all, because that culture wasn't really available to me until I went to college.

On that note, how about Columbia House and BMG Music. Set the stage so well for Napster. Gen-X's gift to the Millennials.

Columbia house goes way back. My parents let me pick 2 tapes on the order when i was 10. Picked led zep 4 and BTOs not fragile.

Later me and my friends would place orders for all the neighbors in hope to intercept the package from the mailman. Good times.

already been done, like a month ago

    how to tell what generation:

boomer: "I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and worked hard, I don't need to goto therapy"
gen x: very quietly whispers "my therapist said......"
millennial: yelling "I love therapy! I go all the time! My therapist said I should.......!"

Geez guys. I know that the music clubs predate gen X. Music file sharing AKA Napster was gen X!
And ya, that it abused copyright wasn't our fault!

wasn't it like 6 for a penny or something like that on the initial order? i can't remember all of my original picks, but it definitely included Foreigner 4 and Billy Joel's Glass Houses. It was late 70s or 1980 because I remember excitedly making the long walk to the mailbox (lived in the boonies) for a few days hoping for my package, and we moved away from that house in 1981.

I have seen 1970s Columbia House and BMG ads for 8-tracks.
