we got about 8" +/- of heavy wet stuff, no FR on the back end which was good, heard rumors that Burke got a foot. ducked out of the home office for a lunchtime lap today; there was definitely still some crust underneath the fresh snow but it was mostly covered and conditions were actually really nice for cruising. hit some low angle woods near the bottom, fun day getting out for a tour.

Social distancing at its finest. Saw ~10 people on the way up, none after I dropped into the zone and started lapping.

    Artsy skin track

Plenty of room for social distancing.

Even the trees are spread apart.

For those thinking they might like to travel tomorrow to VT to ski after all these nice pics, don’t it’s sloppy snow now. If that doesn’t dissuade you, VT has 95 cases of confirmed Covid up from 52 two days ago and 7 deaths. Sorry to harsh everyone’s mellow. Stay safe, stay home.

From the article I read: "the Order directs all Vermonters to stay at home, leaving only for essential reasons critical to health and safety"

I'd argue that skiing is both essential and critical to my health, sanity, and overall well-being

My 7:15 start time was delayed until 7:45 as I saw a mother/daughter team head out on snowshoes and figured, let them break trail.

They, some other skinners and a bootpacker in the skin track [wtf] laid a nice trail to the Lynx. Seems Patrol or someone else with the lock combo were getting some night skiing and group hanging in the patrol shack. Another observation, 3 trails up the Lynx and 3 separate skin tracks? Why? Just go up the easier Lower Sunrise consistent grade to the crossover then up Birch. keep it simple

Caught her at the top and had a chat. The three dudes hanging together drinking beers said there were already 3 tracks on CR. That ruined my CR-Cotillion plans. I related my observations on areas of thin snow to watch for that I had gleaned from the last weeks trips to the Rock and

The Cavalcade of Kooks continues. This guy I chatted with at The Jaws had booted 1900' at this point fully dressed for the down.
He asked about booting in the track and I told him it was frowned upon but not the worse thing where it is flatter but BAD in steeper areas where traction is limited. He was cool with that and shocked that all of the tracks were mine.

Got a bit sloppy toward the bottom hogging some of the width.
Snow skied really nice with tons of support, stay in the pocket and there was no scratch. Lynx down was cream cheese and yard is soft crusted this morning.
