Props to Basin Sports for superb service yesterday. Walked in about 1pm, and got the liners on the FTs baked, new footbeds (awesome), and new bindings on my eastern powder skis that the lawyers said we're too old to touch. Then two wax and sharpens, all done by morning. My new shop Made my day.

The owner of the Basin Ski Shop in Killington is facing a federal charge of possessing child pornography.

Federal prosecutors said in a statement that Richard Torrey, 56, of Killington, was charged Monday with the federal offense.

He was released on a variety of conditions, including home confinement and electronic monitoring.

According to the criminal complaint filed in federal court in Vermont in January, Torrey paid $99.95 to obtain access to a child pornography Web site titled, "Home Collection."

Special agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement last week executed a search warrant at Torrey's business on Killington Road and seized a variety of digital media that contained photos and videos of underage females engaged in sexually explicit conduct, federal prosecutors said in the statement.

Torrey took ownership of the ski shop in 1991.

The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

First day of my season: Low tide UnPaddling. 1250' vert. Broke a pole on the first run. Field repair worked fine (a few laps with gorilla tape stabilized the hack). Stogie stoke and twig stoke for good measure
