This was the same story up the street from you guys--> touring gear went from 50% off back to only 20% 'cause folks were scooping it up so fast once Slokemo announced the closing. Heck, I bought S a full setup, but it being Ludlow (patient zero for S VT), I ain't pickin' it up for a whiiiiiile. I'm staying the fuck home, if you will.

I think the Catamount Trail Association got it right (nothing here that demands you “stay at home “ or within your “catchment”)....

A daily walk, hike, bike ride, or ski is a great way to help manage the stress and uncertainty. But, there are some things to keep in mind that will help keep you and the rest of the community safe and healthy:

Don't go out if you don't feel well.
Don't carpool outside your own household
    Stay 6ft+ away from others
Choose low-risk activities. Now's not the time to end up in the hospital!
Avoid common high-touch surfaces... door knobs, handrails, etc...
    Don't touch your face
Wash Your Hands (Video... definitely worth watching)
Leash Your Dog. They are members of your household and need to keep their distance as well.
    For additional COVID-19 guidelines -> HealthVermont.Gov

We really need to be thinking about how we can safely help our neighbors, those responding to the COVID-19 crisis, and other causes that are important to us.

already a solid 2+" stacked up in the driveway here at Jay. Still firing but supposed to turn over to sleet/FR at some point.

I poked around some lower mountain trails on snowshoes yesterday (Sunday) and even in the sunshine the trails were a brick of ice. I agree with you guys and bet there will indeed be a bunch of folks trying to get after it in the coming weeks.

Not sure if it was already mentioned in this thread but I saw Jackson, NH police posted that they were contacted by Black Mountain with complaints of people skinning and thus trespassing on their property.

"Black Mountain is private property and skiing there is a "pay to play" service. Violators can be charged with criminal trespass, theft of services, or both. Please respect that this business is closed and your conduct may be tying up emergency services. Thank you in advance for your cooperation."

Not sure if resorts that are on public land have the same capacity to enforce their closures but an interesting development for sure.

Yes, I see what CTA is saying but listen to doctors, keep your germs at home. While we have the virus here, we are at the point where we might be able to manage it. If people keep fleeing and seeking refuge here, They are increasing the rate of infection, they will be putting a strain on our systems, and you will be hard pressed to find a doctor in VT that disagrees with this.

If they won't stay home, I'd rather have them on skins than booting the skintrack.

I expect tomorrow to be a cluster, to the point where I'm planning to leave the dog at home because I don't trust the other idiots (this view magnified by the used condom the dog found on trail at Mount Abram last week). If we get enough snow to make for good conditions, that will mitigate things, but I'm expecting a fair number of newbies finding out the hard way that dust on crust can make for interesting skinning.

About 7" base of Magic. Still snowing steadily if not nuking like it was at sundown. Report from yesterday was tilted hockey rink...folks couldn't make it up low angle trails. Should be an interesting day tomorrow then back to hanging kitchen cabinets.

Snowed all night but not much to add. 7" total. No rain or ice on the back end though.

Anyone else buy the K spring pass? Refund available if you did (and didn't use it the one day you could have).

maybe when all is said and done, ~9" in da groovy uv. saw a NWS report of 11" round these parts, must've been higher than me.

snow is already wetting from an hour ago. it's slooooow and heavy. some base was felt underneath on "steeper" pitches, but non consequentially. stay safe & dial it back, mah friends

edit maybe pics lattah, gotta get some werk done

Good thing we have our priorities straight. Took a little walk to the Mount Royal spot after the snow let up and there was 5 or so inches of nice dense pow on a ice rink. She didn't go.
