Went on a little tour of Wright Peak.

Conditions were great with amazing weather and peak coverage - plenty of that packed powder that everyone is talking about with an inch of new snow on top.

I enjoyed the skiing and did a second lap of just the ski trail.

    A few pics:

Great tour/shots BG. I hiked Wright before moving to VT (peak that the bomber crashed in to if I recall correctly edit: confirmed after clicking Bucket's link) and remember saying to my 46'er buddy at the summit, "I need to move up here to have access to this in the winter". Almost 20yrs later, I still need to make that happen so thanks for the reminder.

Sweet, need to find my way over in the next few weeks, just need a couple of commandos to cross the line and get some ski mountaineering done.

This might belong in the Gaper thread, but this was a first for me this am:

The couple was skinning up Perry Merrill at $towe with ice axes on their packs. Ready to shred the gnar, I guess.

I don't know those people but lots of people do a shake down with full mountaineering kit in a mellow setting before the real thing to make sure it's all good.
I've had to bite my tongue before.

    Who knows?

A little late in posting this, but I hit Gulf of Slides with some friends on President's day. One of the group (not me) put together a video of the tour. Normally I wouldn't post gopro footage here (they're never any good), except this one turned out to be well above average - in quality of the video, anyway, if not necessarily the skiing.

Also, @n_tartaglione just happened to catch a pretty good shot of me from the boot ladder skier's left in Main Gully. I don't think he'll mind that I ripped this from his instagram page (https://www.instagram.com/n_tartaglione/?hl=en), since he offered to email me the file - I'm just getting impatient! Coolest part of this pic are the three figures above me - the rest of my group silhouetted against the near-bluebird sky.

It was very cool to hit those conditions on Washington, on Washington's Birthday.

Nice! I rarely take photos or video when skiing but always appreciate when someone else puts the effort into it.

Nick is a good friend and a great photographer! We got out for turns the past two days including a banner day of touring yesterday. Not sure which side of the lens he’s better on.

Rode the rails at Sleepy Hollow today. What a glorious day. Time for a shower, grab the dog, and head down to the waterfront.

Stowe Derby was today. Friend’s son’s roommate won. His GPS watch clocked him at 49mph skiing the downhill - on nordic racing gear!

Looks like somebody else got to Catamount this weekend- unless there’s someplace else that’s still using those things?
