Phishing currently, but the teasers posting in sprockets has me downloading some images to post. Muddy 3rd class and snow covered trails leaves little to do.

can confirm that yesterday was absolutely gorgeous out there on the slopes. snowed about 2-3" Monday night up my way. the sun was shining and the thermometer was reading 36 so we decided to go for a little mid-day tour and conditions were incredible. Best day of skiing in the month of March thus far. Holding off on posting pics so as not to get any flack given the current social climate these days. Hope everyone stays safe and healthy, positive vibes all around.

Sunday River applied the ban hammer. Post-season uphill travel had always been in violation of the posted policy, but I've never heard of anyone actually giving a damn. They've now updated the website and posted on social media to make clear that they'll consider any access trespassing. I assume on premises signage will be updated accordingly.

Bummer, but based on the number of out of state license plates in the parking lots recently, either there are a lot of people living nearby who like paying too much for car insurance, or there were a lot of people traveling to ski despite the orders not to do so.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Not for nothing but every time I've seen "out of state plates" I've thought about the fact that the season I worked at Killington, I had an AK license and NY plates had just gotten rid of my Illinois plates a couple of months before moving up there. It's possible that some/most/all of those folks have been in state since before the lockdown. I'm not saying they have or haven't - I couldn't possibly know. I just don't think it's a foregone conclusion that every orange plate represents a potential Typhoid Mary.

Yup in the past SR was always good for early season or late season skinning. Staff was super chill. Same at Wildcat, Shawnee and the loaf. Hope things return after virus war, but not feeling optimistic

    That's interesting.

Not completely related but a weird thing about NYC is that so many cars are registered out of state too. To avoid the insurance premiums, lots of people would register their home address at relatives houses in PA or NC. Always kind of burned me up because I felt the fraud made everyone else pay more (and the parking!).

It's always someone from somewhere else ruining everything.

The insurance cost alone is a pretty good motivator to register in Maine if you can legally do so. There are definitely oddball exceptions, like people with out of state company cars, military deployments, or long term rentals because their car is in the shop, but they tend to stick out enough that if they had been around town all winter, they'd probably be more recognizable now. I'm sure some percentage of the out of state plates are actually local residents who have been here all winter, but I'd bet that the vast majority were around intermittently at most.

Dogs everywhere, no social distancing, people sledding on cam behind Valley House and a 1/2 dozen skittles built a kicker on Racers Edge yesterday and were doing flips and crashes for 3-4 hours.

some peeps have new york plates all year on my block here. if they get busted that volvo could become property of JT but importing a car is a chore.

saw a story go by of some roxbury locals getting turns today at platty. shit is going fast down there.

also, the fuzz is now stopping random cars in quebec to make sure they have legitimate business so there’s a good chance i’ll catch up to vtf now i’m posting from the isolation pod.
