yes and that's hill with a robust man-made base. platts webcam last sunday made me very sad...but it looked like that before the march1 comeback that turned the season around just in time. cold and snow coming. hopefully the last nasty blip this winter!

i'm bullish on this weekend and MLK at a non-affiliated hill. it's gonna be way too cold for tourons and pedestrian sliders!

The Catamount Trail Association is running their Nebraska Notch to Bolton shuttle every Saturday through February for those looking for a little adventure. Should be prime by the weekend.

The Sugarbush sale officially closed. No changes to the 7 day Ikon limit for this season. They didnt say if sugarbush passholders would get any perks.....

Peruvian, FussyD and I will be at Smuggs today storm skiing. Various clothes but not my norm (fucked up and left them at Magic this week). We shouldn't be hard to find: two 2-plankers and a knuckle dragger.

Sorry to miss this crew. Too small of a window today. May brave the cold tomorrow if conditions warrant. Have fun!

A friend from BITD went through loosing his business to a clear case of arson in Waterbury. They did investigate, and had the dude lying about his location via cell phone pings, he owed money to all his suppliers, had addiction issues...ect., and had fled the state.

The STATE will often not pursue criminal charges if there wasn't injury or death involved. I misspoke, but what i was getting at is it's pretty easy to burn a building down and get away with it in Vt. Not seriously suggesting that is the case here. I heard wooden counter top plus electronics.

Sadly that might have been the most powder I've skied this year, ripsaw was fun. Hit me up I'll come over for lunch

Worth freezing for tomorrow? Highly tempted but wondering how persistence the ugly base is vs. riding consistently soft.

Pics above look legit. With the way this season has unfolded, "right conditions" are ones that don't involve pouring rain, bare ground, or sheets of bullet proof ice.

I wouldn’t even be second guessing it if it wasn’t for some wind and a high in the low single digits for the forecast.

I also caught a “powder day” at Jay recently that was some of the most variable shit I’ve skied in awhile. Looks can be deceiving. Most of my days have looked like shit and skied great whereas that Jay day looked great and skied like shit.

I can’t speak for your ski threshold, but I didn’t point my skis downhill until after 1 and a 1/3rd of the run was some of the best this year, the rest was enjoyable but in a “fuck it, Rock skis and hope for no snakes” kind of way. I’ll make another lap tomorrow, hopefully.

My snow quality threshold is pretty low actually. Just hate ice. Care less about deep. Just want soft and consistent. Weather does alter my analysis.

Rocks were found (by MNIAW) and some thin spots as well. However, all in all, it was a legit power day. The lack of pic sort of confirms that. The refills came and were still falling when we left at 4:30. I’d say that by the time they are done 10” will have fallen. Was it an epic nor’easter with 28”...no. Was it worth going, damn straight.

As for tomorrow, the cold and wind sound nasty. High of zero and wind chill to 25 below. It would be a heartier soul that’s me who would enjoy that.
