Always great to meet up in person Dangur. Hell of a sweet day.
We skied Pitch Black last weekend and didn't hit a thing...this weekend was a whole 'nother story. After this week, I think everything in VT south of Rte 4 is going to start to look bleak.

Brutal... you must have lost a ton of snow. I'm glad I made it up when I did, then.

Ski Free at Burke March 17, it's a Tuesday. I went last year and it was fun, but it was on a weekend.

^^^Good stuff
Home sick from school today (NOT Covoid-19, I promise), and watching "Thrills and Spills in the North Country" from VPT and the NE Ski Museum. Been on my DVR for maybe 4 years now. It's so great- not a ton of info I didn't already know, but hearing from the old timers (Dodges, Cochrans, Jake, etc.) themselves makes this all that much cooler. Great old TV piece, complete with goofy synthesized-circus music. Really good stuff if you've never seen it.

^^^ platts was one of two options sunday...i picked berkshire east as temps looked more corn-ducive to soft turns.
looks like there were no problems in that regard at platts.
nice pics. (and nice ones above from the mines! yes, heal fast cat. use the time well. return stronger)
i will say the drive to berk east is a bit more engaging with a very MRV feel with hairpin turns and exposure.
there are stretches there that remind me of magic and the sunnyside at mad.
place is too race-centric for me. but to the program's credit, there were a bunch of racers GS'ing race-fast through narrow ungroomed bumps and piles.
hopefully we'll cross paths at platts before this summer weather takes *too* much a toll. it's way to early too be picking days out like it's may!
considering swapping out the snows if only to hope to regret it!Last edited by buckethead; 03-10-2020 at 08:02 PM.

I skied Berkshire for the first time this year and I’m kicking myself for not going earlier. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the terrain - more steepness and more diversity then I expected. I thought it was a fun mountain, and really well run too.

yea, i scoped the place for the first time after x-mas - with a western mass storm day in mind.
it never came but i did ski upper lift line on the day patrol dropped the rope.
the trail remained open one more day and that was it.
the place has joined platts as my go-to when a 2x longer trip north has little appeal - or when i oversleep!
hoping all the smaller hills hold on til we (possibly) see a return of seasonable temps mar21-28 (per josh fox).
in other news i'm happy to report that at 1yr/50 days as my everyday ski, this repair remains completely unfazed
gorilla epoxy is the shite!Last edited by buckethead; 03-11-2020 at 09:35 AM.

fuck.... Mt Abrams calling it quits after this weekend.
This Weekend at Mt Abram Due to the deteriorating snow conditions on the mountain and the very real threat of the COVID-19 virus, management has decided that this Sunday, March 15th will be the last day of ski operations for the season. Like many businesses, schools, and governments, we feel closing the mountain is the most responsible thing to do in these unprecedented times to ensure the well-being of our employees and customers.
Fortunately unlike other seasons, this is not a farewell until next winter. We are beyond excited to start on our projects to expand the experience here at Mt. Abram beyond skiing to include summer and fall activities. We hope you will join us this weekend for a few last turns and entertainment in Loose Boots Lounge on Saturday with Doug Alford & Steve Caswell starting at 3 followed by Crime Scene at 7.
Stay tuned for the launch of summer and winter season early bird pass sale next week and continued updates on summer operations.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and a great season!
The Mt Abram Ownership & Management Team
