Sbush was thin but I found wind blown chalk on the sides. Organgrinder down to ripcord. Surprised at how empty it was today. And not so freaking cold like the last few days

    East MF Coast 19/20.

Nice 19+k of kick and glide in the MRV with the missus today. Blueberry Lake XC has decent coverage given the recent weather - 100% open, but not track groomed. I bet it would have been really fun for fat biking.

ID:	307227good day at platts today.
hit the last of the past cycle's untracked goods with scottski at platts re-opening today. the thin naturals had a little crust to contend with but it worked on the natural steeps with a little trust.
the open groomers were pretty fast and fun and traffic was light enough to keep things nice all day.
didn't hit anything too threatening and made it bell to bell for first time this season.

East coast new transplant here. Anyone getting out this week have time to show me around? Would be day tripping from Boston, not sure if conditions are worth a full price ticket yet and the B.C. looks boney but I want to get out anyway.

I was at Stratton this morning, it was good, actually. No one there. Ton of stuff open. Parked at Sun Bowl, that will be where I park, henceforth. Super mellow.

Jiminy has about fully recovered from the rain. Soft turns and a mellow crowd made for some fun high speed laps. It was passholder appreciation day, with first tracks at 8 AM and free coffee and cinnabons at the peak lodge with owner Brian Fairbank. I got to speak with him for a few minutes.
Some interesting things he told me:
    - Jiminy's wind turbine has been broken for the past month and is taking a long time to fix because the manufacturer's repair department is so short staffed. Not having it producing for the snowmaking cost them $96,000 in electricity last month. They've pumped 100 million gallons so far to make snow. They average about 130 million gallons per season. All of the snowmaking trails (about 90% of the terrain) will be open by this Thursday with about 5-7 feet of snow on them.
    - I asked him his thoughts about Epic and Ikon passes. He said he does not like them because they are similar to the costs of a full season Jiminy pass yet provide so many more options. He said he would not sell to Vail as they would take over the management of his mountain and lay off his management team, like Vail did at Stowe, which he said he could not do to his people. He was intrigued by Altera because their business model is to keep the seller's management team in place.

Up at the 'Loaf today which was not really crowded, thankfully. Plenty of fun on the firm with a new, sharp 17 meter Nordica Enforcer 88 under me. A bit hooky when loaded up at speed so bringing the Speedmachines out tomorrow am. Problem solved. Here til Tuesday in the SX91's and white pants after Labor Day. Ask for change.

Thanks for the update. I learned at Jiminy, back when the biggest lift was a triple.

I need to choose 1 pair of skis to take home for the week.. skiing da bush a couple days after xmas

Torn between Praxis PJ or straight up slalom skis.. Basically, is there any chance at skiing woods? Is the coverage on trail decent enough that I won't need to worry about bare spots if I bring the SLs?

trails that have had snow blown on them are fine as far as coverage, you will want something that will hold or slide well on boiler plate.the natural snow trails are mariginal at best

Slalom skis and head on a swivel to avoid kooks will be needed.
