I saw that too. I was just thinking if I still had my astro van, I'd have the range to get up there and back without any stops but alas, the Colorado has ridiculously short legs. It'd probably still be irresponsible somehow anyway

    Classic!

So, now it's clear that half the season never happened, won't that turn the season into an asterisk, making it 2019*-2021?

i don’t need an asterisk, i guess turning the page would be better. thought i MIGHT be able to sneak in a last xc day but the town trails are looking bleak and this will be the final nail in the coffin:

    ECRC mags:

I just talked for awhile with an old friend that grew up in Natick. Behind his house was a pond that he used to skate on. Has it been possible in any of the last few years to skate on natural ice near boston? for any substantial length of time? when was the last year?

... still waiting on goat pics and still have half a box of wine to drink, where they aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh-t?

Possible to skate on natural ice in any of the past few years? Yes. For a substantial length of time? In the past decade, barely. Predictable skating conditions ended over 20 years ago iirc

Here on the Cape we do skate on bogs regularly, but not this past year much if at all. The skating here tends to be good because we get the cold of the high pressure systems, but the lows and moisture usually fall as rain so we don't get snow on the ice and it is a natural zamboni and not crappy freeze thaw snow on top. The bogs are shallow so if you break through it's waist deep.
The Economist had an article about how this past winter was, once again, the warmest on record for the Northern Hemisphere and a graph showing climatology for Boston with the 3-4 months of winter dipping below 0C but this year it went to 0 in November and stayed flat at 0 until March. Totally truncated. New England was quite warm this year, climatologically speaking.

They flood an area of Cunningham Park in Milton on a pretty regular basis.

    East MF Coast 19/20.

I’ve been mourning the loss of the season by editing/re-editing photos. Here are a few that I’ve been working on. The stoke is already building for next season.

I'm aware of the travel ban including their warning of random stops but hear they haven't actually began stopping and questioning drivers yet. (as of yesterday evening)

Got 2 hikes in at Smuggs this week after it snowed. Tuesday on Sterling after about 3-4" Monday nite, and Madonna yesterday after another 3-4" up top. Got another 3-4" overnite, but Smuggs sent out the above email yesterday ending uphill.

    President's day?

I know we already talked about this several pages back, but I was up there that day, too. It was fun watching you ski, and dodging your slough on the boot ladder!
