A few more ADK pics from this past weekend

    On Sat attempted Bennies Brook

Again weather was great, but snow conditions in the slide were catastrophically awful with every different kind of crust imaginable

I went one ledge up post the "Y" and after I stared at the glistening ACL eater above, decided thats enough of an adventure and it was time to turn around

Terrain is sufficiently low angle to where the skiing was fine

On Sun decided to go up Marcy

Having been trained to expect the typical summer weekend conga line, I was surprised there was hardy anyone up there despite the gorgeous weather - in fact there seemed to be more skiers than hikers that day

Reports from hikers coming down of strong winds and "all ice" were not true

I was able to skin up to within a couple of hundred feet from the summit to encounter peaceful calm and endless views

The skiing from the NE flank of the cone (albeit short) was a contender for best turns of the season with smooth chalky windbuff

Its kind of funny that the ADK dog walking itinerary is 5+ mi each way

Once I got to the top of the road, I investigated the entrance and I think I got comfortable with that, but looking at the copious amounts of crust in the slide blunted my enthusiasm

So I went up to the top proper, basked in the sun, took a couple of pictures of the lake and then cruised down the road smugly passing the cross country skiers locked in ferocious snow plow in fear for their lives (feeling vindicated after they had smugly passed me on the way up )

BGS... Great pictures! You lucked out on the weather. How were snow depths and trail coverage?

And Frontier flies direct from Burlington to Denver. So what’s your point? Even with a week vacation, I’d get 6-7 days out west. What do I do for the other 30-40 days I’ll ski this winter?

Oh right, I’ll stay within an hour of my house and find the softest snow available and ski powder damn near every weekend.

Some of us ski more than 6 days a year, Eeyore.

Maybe you'd get off the plane, drive up and say, oh, what's this? Is this what they call snow? Because whatever you have close to your house right now ain't snow. I'm looking up at a Vermont mountain right now, and that ain't snow. It's fucking rained on mush.

Look at the forecast for next week, after that. This season is toast.

Maybe I'd get off the plane and wouldn't be able to drive up to the mountain at all.

Maybe try and look up at another Vermont mountain cause the one you see isn't the right one. By the way, have you been paying attention to the posts in this thread at all?

Thankful for the Adirondack pics and info, I've been looking across the border thinking about a drive over for a couple of weeks. I don't need to drive a couple of hours to tour for a couple k of jump turns.

Peruvian and I have our Saturday tour planned already, maybe an earlier start is all I am thinking.

Have you ever skied a real mountain?
The mountain I'm looking at is one of the highest in Vermont. You tell me where this powder paradise of yours is.

Exit: Actually, I have been watching this thread, hoping for something worth the drive. It's a whole lot worse than I expected. There's no fucking snow. Am I missing something? Listening to you guys is worse than the Killington snow report.

I'm not sure of your definition of a 'real' mountain is but I have skied Mt Hood, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams (WA), the Whitewater Glacier on Mt. Jefferson (OR), from the crater rim on Mount St. Helen's, W/B, Crystal/Stevens/Snoq Pass, PC/Alta/SB/etc, many of the Tahoe resorts, Vail/Copper/A-Basin/Star Peak/Taylor Peak/LL...... Should I go on?

I can't speak for VT-F but if you want to join our tour on Saturday, I'm actually willing to show it to you. I'll even bring a growler of Fiddlehead to share afterwards. Shoot me a PM.

Otherwise, STFU or you go back on ignore.

    East MF Coast 19/20.

+whatever for BG, solid work and some ambitious days for sure!

VT and Peruvian, not sure where you guys plan on touring over here, but if the garden lot is full, you are welcome to park at my house anytime. It adds a whopping 1/8 mile each way onto the day...

ML stop by my store for some good NY brew on your way by after the face. Will probably be up there Sunday.

Lotta adk love around here lately

Nice work! I did Wright ski trail last time in 2017 it's fun up and down!

Conditions were great with amazing weather and peak coverage - plenty of that packed powder that everyone is talking about with an inch of new snow on top.

I enjoyed the skiing and did a second lap of just the ski trail.

This could have totally saved me $10 about 10 years ago when I hiked my GF at the time into the gothics at night, I set up the tent and then she decided every noise was a bear coming to kill her. We hiked back out, I had to take her to mirror lake inn and get her massages and facials for the rest of the trip. Good times!

It is nice to remember all the good things about up there
