Certainly warm out yesterday. We got out after a late start thing a T-shirt would have been adequate as a thermal layer and started grinding up the hill. Close to an objective, came upon a couple stripping skins and stopped 50' away because RAT FLU. They dropped in and we continued a couple hundred feet.

Soft and flowy snow, very easy to ski, proper wax is key.
    This would describe it perfectly

Started the long grind up and out and ran into a friend of mine out for a walk with his dog. He also had his new 20 gauge single shot break with a scope and laser pointer Watch out TP thieves! Stoked that he left a nice footpack that made the climb 40% easier.

    Well this sucks

Sad news today. Blandford Ski Area, a small local ski hill in Blandford Ma. Made the decision shut their doors for good today. This past season was just too much for them. They are offering discounts for season pass holders to their sister hill, Butternut, in Great Barrington, Ma. This is my local hill I skied on this many times l while growing up and it was a fun hill. We will joe need to rethink next season.

That does suck. I'll be surprised if 10e opens next year. This past season sucked for them. Just not enough natural snow. I guess it depends how deep the owners pockets are. They've put a lot into it, so I would assume he had a plan.

Bolton closed for uphill as well. Wonder how long before the bigger resorts shut it down.

I thought you were local to Canon, whatcha doing on the Cape?

VT doubled Covid in 3 days. Stay home, stay away, keep our population safe. Seriously, Doctors here are sending N95 masks to NY and MA to help others. When doctors send shit south they don’t want people coming north, so stay the fuck home regardless of how pent up you are.

I trained at Blandford with my high school's race team. Bummed to see it go, though I haven't been back since those days, either...

Our principle said to prepare for this scenario just a couple days after we closed. It’s serious but it’s clear Gov. Scott is learning from other states’ mistakes and being more proactive. We’ll see.......

Also saw a dude on his riding mower while on a ride today. He was mowing the half of his yard not covered in snow. Normal crazy or quarantine crazy?

Well, Winter is over for me... launched the little boat today, even though I had to play icebreaker to get to open water with some ice still lurking. With shelter in place protocols being ignored by folks from away fleeing the cities and 'burbs coming here to their Summer homes, I will retreat to the small, isolated offshore Islands for some family fun time this weekend. It will be quiet out there.

Was hoping to ski with Mags this Spring for some Superstar bump disco boogie or Tucks laps but will have to wait til next year. Good vibes on the folks still getting out skiing who are local to the mountains and snow.

    Be safe, and be well.

If it was as I'm picturing, I'd vote crazy. Or he just wants to get something done before mud season.
