This screen grab from az kinda resembles what I've seen around the mrv since this began. Tons of weekenders I know live in red/yellow zones who arrive every weekend and act like they've been here for weeks. Saturday mornings on the road I observe approx. 50-60% out of state cars and I have come to recognize the ones who are living here mostly full time.
Went to the lumber yard Saturday to pick something up and there were a dozen rigs there, eight had plates from NY,NJ,MA and CT and it seemed fun they all waited until the last minute to get those 3 2x4s they needed for whatever.

ps, that song is funny but not as good as the Ginger Cowgirls song.

This isn't a new phenomenon. I worked shit jobs most summers in the late 70s/early 80s...had a job at a "resort" in the Lakes Region of NH one year. Those people were total assholes to the staff. On the upside, we smoked a ton of weed and the late-30s/early-40s divorced waitresses were all hot for us young'uns

As a teenage grocery clerk I was, a Woman threatened to have her husband beat me up because her candy rung up as 1 dollar instead of 99 cents. Lots of loose screws out there. Luckily most people have it together

You have a point. VT is an odd place. The "locals" hate the tourists but would starve without them.

Meanwhile, the real locals (the families with three generations of gravestones in the local cemetery) hate each each other, but are united in the hate of the new locals, and then they all combine to hate the tourists. Good luck figuring all that shit out when you move there.

Not all. But some. Most of us are too poor to afford skiing.

Born and bred, grandfather skied, mother and father ski, sister skis, I ski, though non of us have ever lived in a “ski town.”

Again, you speak in absolutes when you have no real knowledge of that which you spew.

Like a couple of others have noted, born and bred, 2nd gen skier.

Back on ignore...I know you don't care.

Perhaps not your bourgeois idyllic skiing at a resort but yeah, we skied. Grandma grew up poor on a farm but managed to ski the auto road and CCC trails on Mansfield in the 30s. My dad and my uncles all skied Norwich courtesy of enrolling in military school. Kind of a poor tradeoff since 2 of the 3 ended up in Vietnam. I grew up cross-country skiing on any golf course we could find. First time on downhill for me was poaching Killington at night.

I may suck at downhill since it didn't become a regular thing for me until my 30s but I'm a Vermont Skier for sure. Well except for the technicality of being bred at Fort Benning and born at Fort Hood! I did make the pilgrimage to VT within 2 weeks of being born though but that probably doesn't count as much as the Texas birth certificate. Maybe that's why I suck......

Poor Eeyore will never understand VT, a bitter person spending his last days looking at the green mountains from his glass house.

Well, yeah, things may be looking up now that they dont have to bribe people under 50 to move to the state. Maybe no more Vermont days at hills to get the locals to come on out? Cant think of any other ski states that have to do that. C'mon dudes, Vermonters do not only not ski, they pretty much hate skiers.

If it wasn't for Boston and the NY metro, Vermont would be like Appalachia.

There’s another ski state? There’s great skiing in Maine, NH and NY but I don’t know if I would call those quote/unquote “ski states”. I’m talking east of the Mississippi here. Let’s not compare apples to oranges. Am I wrong?

True story, when bunny was a young lad his mother abandoned him at the Burlington Coat Factory in Weehawen NJ.
He was being escorted into a dressing room by an uncle with a questionable past. Maybe this is what triggered his hatred of Vermont.
And his friendship with a boot fitter who rubs his feet just like his uncle used to
