Just passing thru. It follows his EC tour schedule for the most part. It was on Cape Cod in August.

    Notably all older songs.

Buffett's older stuff is pretty good and holds up, the novelty songs? Not so much.

And listening to him live makes me want to jam spikes in my ears.

used to show up at bars in Vail and Aspen and play in the early years. One night in Lionshead he stopped midsong to tell a joke and was so lit he couldn't remember which song he had been playing. pretty funny. don't have a favorite but like his cover of treetop flyer

In 2006 I met a cute girl at a Jimmy Buffet show at Alpine Valley. I was bored of my friends and the music and set afoot with an $8 beer in hand in search of cardboard sharks or whatever it is you find at Buffet shows. Some strange poked me in the back to ask about my Mountain Hardwear coat. We started talking and never stopped. I spilled another $8 beer on her and she just laughed so I knew I had a keeper.

Went back a few years later to relive the experience. Best part was taking a 'nap' in the back of the Subaru waiting for the parking lot to clear. The music never really did it for us but that is why we met and talked through a set and exchanged digits. Maybe that is the idea. It isn't music to be studied or music that even needs to be appreciated. It has its place though.

We are mostly into the jamgrass scene now and Panic and related bands but I am forever thankful to Parrotheads and JB for helping me meet my wife.

I really can't stand Alpine Valley though. Never again I hope.
