Yeah, they already did that with the Rollik 557 a couple of years ago.

Still like the moss green...complete builds now available. They really knocked it out of the park with the Druid.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Agreed. The moss green was perfect. I would have got one but the XLs were late to be made and I needed a new bike ASAP.

Well I took the plunge and switched directions from Ripmo 2 to a RidEgg Smash. I'm going with my gut and getting the more progressive bike. I ordered a Smash with silver decals and a '21 DHX2, and snagged the last '21 Perf Elite 36 from Jenson. Whole build will be metal AF, all black and chrome. This bike has had my eye since it first came out, and the feedback from several people here who've owned / ridden both extensively who say the Ripmo climbs very slightly better, but the Smash is MUCH more capable descending. That's a no brainer decision IMO.

What would be your guys ultimate "downcountry" bike. Chances of me buying another bike anytime soon are slim to none, but I like the idea of a pedally bike that can still hold it's own. I love 160mm monster trucks too and it's what I ride now, but something 5 pounds lighter that can be ridden 45 miles and still be fun on the way down seems to be the direction I am headed.

    Yeti SB100
    Spot Ryve
    Rocky Mountain element
    Norco optic
    Cannondale ?
    Trek top fuel

I've tried it a few times and can't get used to the noodle flex of a light fork and skinny wheels. By the time I upgrade those I might as well just have a trail or Enduro bike with a light wheelset. A few pounds just doesn't matter anymore once you realize pinning it on the climbs hurts and railing downhill rules. Rolling terrain with no chunk? Xc 29er is great. Not where I want to ride.

That's going to be sweet. I've got a bunch of time on one too, and really really like it

Andeh I thought you already had a Smash? Or was that pre-revved frames?

    Yeti SB100
New Tallboy, but the geo is more "trail" than "downcountry"

You could just short stroke your enduro bike. Same eye to eye to keep the downcountry geo but just shorter stroke/travel and a lighter set of wheels. If its a 27.5 bike, you could make it a mullet to be more capable in enduro or trail mode

Nope, currently on a Sentinel, and just sold my Smuggler. I did demo a pre-Revved Trail Pistol a couple years ago, that's the extent of my GG experience. The Revved ones came out literally 2 weeks after I received my Sentinel, and I was kicking myself for being impatient then.

About inch of travel. It is kinda silly. It is just a mountain bike. XC is a bad word for cool guy mountain bikers now.

xc is done and over, only losers call themselves xc riders and people who wear spandex are not cool
everything is about shuttles downhills point to points and terrorizing hikers
I prefer xc bikes 2.2 tires and being a racer boy
unfortunately I succumbed to trying to be cool to impress girls and get guys to stop looking at my cod piece
bought a huge long travel bike, don't think I'm going to like it so I"ll be selling it on tgr for half price in a couple weeks
back to carbon hard tails and 21 lb bikes

That bike looks pretty darn good. I wonder why no frame-only option for the 120.

Ahh - looks like the only difference is the shock stroke. 37.5 vs 45 mm with the same 190 mm length.

Downcountry is a dumb, vague category, but a Hightower isn't even remotely downcountry.
