    No more Halloween in schools

I know this is not a 2019 phenomenon, but it seems like it's ramping up more an more. Am I just an old coot that thinks it's kinda dumb to cancel Halloween in schools? Who are these parents that are getting so worked up about it being a religious holiday (Samhain was a new year's celebration and besides Halloween hasn't been religious for at least three quarters of a century) or because rich kids have more elaborate costumes (rich folks will always have more or better stuff) or some other reason for folks to feel marginalized (too many reasons to even consider)?

I'm all for inclusiveness, but we live in a democracy people. There will always be some smaller percentage that aren't happy with the decision of the majority.

Is Halloween in schools where we want to bury the flag in the hill?

    Washington State

    Michigan

    New Jersey

In many cases it seems that the parties, celebrations, etc. are continuing under the banner of a "Harvest Festival" or some other name anyway so what's the point again?

Srsly, though - Halloween horseshit has never belonged in school. School is for... you know, school shit. Besides, Halloween is a dumb "holiday"...

Same can be said for, well, just about every other holiday.

How's that for Old Codger "Get off my lawn," eh?

Go easy on the skittles this year.

Around here Halloween is the preferred secular holiday, judging by the insanely extravagant yard decorations and parties.

Perhaps we just celebrate Halloween (and all the other holiday's that trigger people) in the summer when schools are not in session?

I have very traumatic memories of Halloween and school. One year a local dentist got the school to have us bring in all of our candy and throw it out. Another year they had us collect for Unicef instead of getting candy. To this day I have PTSD about this which is what compelled me to steal my kids' candy when they were little and which now compels me to start sneaking candy from the Halloween supply before Halloween.

Just don't wear a sensitive costume.
I can no longer dress up to be childhood idols like Mr. Bojangles, Roberto Clemente, Divine The Drag Queen, Renee Richards OJ Simpson or Billie Holiday. Also, I can't mock on any present day groups. This would just be too offensive.
Halloween Plan: Set curfew on Mischief Night and Halloween. Make it too offensive to dress as you'd like. Ban it in schools. Don't allow homeowners display creepy and ghoulish creatures on [it's] lawns.

About four years ago I went to the TAO nightclub at the Venetian on Halloween night. I got in for free so I’m not sure whether there is a cover charge. Lots of fun was had. I haven’t seen so many hardly dressed sexy young women since the 1970s at studio 54
