Controlling Online Info / Cell #

A google search of my cell # leads to a positive hit at fastpeoplesearch.com. Within the website it shows that a search for my current address results in accurate info with my name, previous addresses, the cell number and an old landline number.. as well as similar info for my whole fkn family.

I realize the address is public info.

Is the (cell) phone number public? Does it have to be?

If not, any of you legal types have advice for getting it removed?

Call me paranoid, whatever. I don't like it.

    Hm. Yikes.
For me, result #1 shows an address I had when I first got a cell, 15 years ago. Result #2 name of a dead lady I never met. #3 is me - 2+ addresses ago.

Maybe it works somehow with voter registration and works back, cause I had voter registration hide my address years ago and after that the trail going forward stops.

Not sure how to erase old addresses. get a new # and tie it to a BS address?? Use burners?
I'll follow the thread for sure.

on the plus side, all unknown callers are getting this treatment.

Just did it. My name, age, last 4 addresses and all my family members come up. My only social media is TGR so no idea where that comes from

    This is the world now.

As Iíve said before here, anonymity and related services will be a hot market in the future.

The internet's in ink. I doubt 'removing info' is much of a thing. Adding info is where it's at, not purging old stuff. One my links was some lady that died in '97. If dying didn't get her off the list, what will.
Now that I think about it, isn't this kinda what a google search does.. Pings and links lots of different sites and strings them together based on search criteria?
Assessor is public info. Property tax info, Voter Reg, Treasurer, is public info. DMV maybe. Alumni organizations. Library cards. USPS mail holds. Your utilities sell linked data (addresses and numbers) to 3rd parties - think junk mail. Probably a hundred more. All online.
For smart code writers it's probably easy enough to link these for a 'people finder' search engine.

FWIW, most gvt offices will remove your info from their online databases if you go in and ask. I did years ago (they did ask me 'why'). And this is where my trail largely stopped.
They can't legally remove your information from their physical files - meaning someone would have to physically go to their office, then go through the files to find you - and maybe file a formal request for the info.
That involves going to a local gvt building and going through security and being on camera and explaining to a clerk why they're perving on someone --- and at least so far they just haven't gone through the hassle.

I don't know what the solution is.
    It's unnerving.

Your PC knows about your hemorrhoid problem, hence all the Preparation H ads on your home page.

My cell # of 20 years has ZERO hits on the first couple pages of GOOGResults. Just pages and pages of similar numbers. And, I'm on several social media platforms with that contact info.. Kinda surprised LinkedIn didn't show up there.

Pretty happy that my data seems under wraps from that perspective.

Now, the old landline number we ported over to a cell is dead on our address and names.

I've always assumed that any company I do business with online either sells my cell number and other info or has had it hacked. The best you can do is lock your credit and try to protect your SSN.

My cell with a Canadian provider gets zero hits on google or that website. Not trying to sound smug, thought it was interesting.

Pretty damn accurate except I'm not related to my ex's new husband. Or maybe I am which would be weird.

yes, a frightening amount of correct info online. And some bizarrely incorrect info too.
