I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Maybe up high if that stiff wind keeps up all day? Heating up really fast at the base.

Alta snow report for Tuesday June 9. Alta is reporting 16-24 inches of new snow. The following areas are open. Baldy, Alf's High Rustler, Stonecrusher, and anything off the High T. Reports of hoots and hollars. Plenty of stoke.
    Thanks again for skiing Alta.

    Cheers

^Love the stoke, i went up around 10 AM on Monday and was shocked at how good it was - 2 Baldy laps and 0 disappointment.

Managed to call into work yesterday with a case of Teton-ic Fever. Got my buddy convinced on the call and drove up to Jackson. 3 AM start with the Middle Teton glacier on the mind. Made good time, but the sun came out for only 45 mins- hour and got everything sort of heavy, then winter showed back up with high winds and cold temps. Definitely did not get the snow that had been predicted, maybe mayyyyyybe 6 inches depending on wind transport and catch / fetch spots.

Skied the Middle, scary slab was released on the second turn that ran the whole face. Definitely put the serious pants on at that point. Line skied in the 60-62 degrees range, cant remember the last time i made turns with my knees to my rib cage haha. Made a cautious decent down with a mix of sliding and jump turns with the occasional whippet punch for security. Once the angle eased to the 40-50s was finally able to open up an link turns.

The fast sun and heat in that small window really reacted with the snow. It was impressive and a good reminder of that mother nature is ever present.

After that skied down to the meadow, and went up to take a look at the Ellingwood line hoping for a more relaxed / fun line to cap the day, instead saw 2 skiers decending with a lot of noise and cautious turns. Went up to them and realized it was Jimmy Chin! Super nice dude and chatted a bit. His quote summed up the day perfectly - "I dont think theres a single spot on this mountain thats skiing well today" - I agreed lol.

Bailed on the Ellingwood plan but skied the upper meadow between South and Middle which yielded some wind hammered / crunch conditions, however soft and edge-able. Then hiked out to Lupine Meadows - 2 Scones, 3 large coffees, 2 gatoraides, 1 sandwich, 2 protein bars, 2 bags of chips, and an apple later - drove back to SLC haha.

I talked to you a bit on the Baldy shoulder.
Oddly enough, I think I took you rafting on the Hudson back in 2014(?), too.

    Great work.

Beast mode still engaged. Impressive work. I'm feeling kinda sheepish skipping work to ride my bike while my skis gather dust and people are still putting down big lines.

^^^ Tough with June storms! I look at a big chunk of the hill every day and I was still kicking myself for not getting to a good vantage point to see what was covered up in the high and steep before the storm. saw one dude get seriously wrecked after a very small air into a big rock..... and that was on frickin' Mambo. Definitely brought the appetite down a notch.

Turns out that dude and his homies weren't very kind to their rescuers. Talking shit for taking too long, refusing to wear a mask that the rescuers provided. Super uncool. Apparently their general attitude was 'this is a ski area, how could it possibly take a half hour to get to me?' as if the patrollers are sitting in dispatch with boots on and rescue sleds ready to go.

WTF? They should have left that asshole up there to self-extract. Maybe watch him with binocs from the base and yell that he's taking too long to get down with the help of his bros. Isn't that what bros are for in the first place? Help you deal with the consequences of your own stupidity? Guess these days having a "crew" is more about surrounding yourself with equally mediocre twats who are good are drinking beer in the lot while spraying about all the gnar they wish they could send.
